The New Orleans Saints head north to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11. 2021 is a reset year for the Saints after franchise QB Drew Brees retired, and they are now forced to have Trevor Siemian lead the way. Can the Eagles and rookie head coach Nick Sirianni take advantage? Here’s our prediction and the NFL odds as well as what channel is carrying Sunday’s contest.
New Orleans Saints vs. Philadelphia Eagles prediction and odds | Week 11
- Spread: -2 Eagles (Odds from DraftKings sportsbook)
- Moneyline: -135 Eagles, +115 Saints
- Over/Under: 43
The season started out great for the Saints at 5-2. But since the season-ending knee injury to quarterback Jameis Winston, Sean Payton’s squad has dropped two games and now find themselves at 5-4.
While the offense wasn’t exactly Saints-esque before Winston’s torn ACL, the team was finding ways to win. With Siemian under center, things become more challenging.
Philadelphia has been more of a question mark through the first 10 games of the season. Sirianni has the Eagles at 4-6 thus far. Jalen Hurts is having quite an efficient season — his first as a full-time starter in the NFL.
Saints vs. Eagles prediction
Like PFN’s Ben Rolfe said in his Week 11 picks and predictions piece, it’s somewhat surprising to see the Saints as the underdogs. New Orleans boasts one of the top defenses in the league. They’re seventh in points allowed per game (19.8) and first in rushing yards allowed per game at 72.9.
The Eagles will have to take advantage of the Saints’ lackluster secondary if they want to win, which could mean a big day for Hurts and DeVonta Smith. At the end of the day, coaching and a solid game plan will be the deciding factors, and that edge goes to Payton over Sirianni any day of the week.
