Chris Olave has spent the first three seasons of his career with the New Orleans Saints after the franchise selected him 11th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. He has appeared in 39 games, recording 2,565 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 191 receptions.
After suffering the third and fourth concussions of his professional career in 2024, he was forced to miss nine games, including the final eight games of the season. While organized team activities are already underway, the former Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver’s name has recently come up in trade rumors. First-year head coach Kellen Moore recently responded to that chatter.
Saints HC Kellen Moore Weighs In on Star WR Chris Olave Trade Rumors
Entering the offseason, Olave figured to be a big part of the Saints’ offensive attack as they enter Moore’s first season leading the team. Instead, the wide receiver has been mentioned as a potential candidate to be moved ahead of Week 1.
The Saints’ head coach recently weighed in on those rumors. Underdog NFL shared his comments to X, tweeting:
“HC Moore on Chris Olave trade speculation: “I wouldn’t worry too much about that. We feel really, really good about Chris. He’s had an excellent offseason, he’s had an excellent career so far, and he’s going to have an excellent future.””

The Saints are looking to bounce back from a 5-12 finish last season. It marked their worst record since 2005, the year before former head coach Sean Payton and former quarterback Drew Brees arrived.
New Orleans will enter the season with plenty of uncertainty under center after the sudden offseason retirement of quarterback Derek Carr. Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, Tyler Shough and Hunter Dekkers are expected to compete for the starting job. While that group hardly inspires confidence, trading Olave would likely create an even bigger problem.
Despite never playing a full 17-game slate, the young wide receiver has been the Saints’ top player at his position in each of his first three seasons. While he only appeared in eight games in 2024, he still had the most receiving yards of any wide receiver on the roster. Olave cleared the 1,000-yard threshold in each of his first two seasons.
