Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a gruesome arm injury against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. The injury drew reactions from NFL fans and media, including former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III.
Griffin posted a 30-second video on X shortly after Daniels’ injury, but it was widely criticized, with many accusing him of making the incident about himself.
Why Is Robert Griffin III Facing Backlash After Jayden Daniels’ Injury?
After Daniels’ arm injury, Griffin took to X to react to the moment, posting a 30-second video, shaking his head in silence. He ended it by saying, “I can’t do this.” Fans quickly reacted, accusing him of making the moment about himself and seeking attention.
Most fans were angered with Griffin for seeking attention in a moment where Daniels was seriously hurt, with one writing, “watched his arm snap and just got on yo phone and recorded yourself for 30 seconds for attention.”
Another person echoed that sentiment with a meme.

Other fans called Griffin out for always making things about himself, with one writing, “always making it about him lmfao.” While another added, “Boy just had to make it about him.”

Some seem just to be fed up with Griffin’s antics, with one fan saying, “Yo I’m tired of u attention seeking.”
One Person called Griffin a hypocrite for saying he spreads love but then seeking attention after Daniels’ injury, writing, “Why when something happens, you want attention. You tweet about spreading love and god, but you are a fake Christian selfish hypocrite.”

Another fan went as far as to call Griffin’s behavior weird, writing, “This is such weird attention seeking, interaction seeking behavior. He went into the app, into the camera and hit record with a straight face and then started doing ts.”
It’s clear that NFL fans weren’t happy with Griffin’s reaction to Daniels’ injury, and while the video may have seemed corny, it’s understandable why he posted it. Nobody knows the feeling of being a highly touted draft pick by Washington and suffering a brutal injury quite like Griffin does.
After being selected second overall in the 2012 NFL Draft, Griffin led Washington to a playoff berth in his rookie season, similar to what Daniels did last year. However, in the team’s Wild Card game against, ironically, the Seahawks, Griffin suffered a knee injury that ultimately derailed his NFL career.
There’s a strong possibility that Griffin was simply reacting in the moment, as someone who has experienced something similar, rather than seeking attention. Still, given the timing and context, it’s easy to see why fans were upset with his post.
