The Baltimore Ravens are known for consistently fielding one of the NFL’s best offensive lines. Although the unit has had a few rough games in the 2025-26 season, it remains one of the best in the league. That success is largely because of how well Baltimore scouts, drafts, and develops offensive line talent year after year.
However, that philosophy is about to face a major test, as one of the team’s best players, center Tyler Linderbaum, is set to become a free agent after this season.
What Does the Future Hold for Tyler Linderbaum in Baltimore?
The situation recently took a new turn, with ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler providing a significant update on the negotiations. On Tuesday, Fowler released an article breaking down the upcoming free agent class, and he had some noteworthy comments on Linderbaum’s future with the Ravens.
“Linderbaum is considered a top-10 interior offensive lineman in the eyes of execs, coaches and scouts. That makes him an expensive option, poised to become one of the highest-paid centers. The Ravens have discussed an extension with Linderbaum but are not within striking distance on a deal. When the Ravens declined his fifth-year option in the spring, that enhanced his chances for free agency.”
Fowler’s comments shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has watched Linderbaum over the past four seasons. The former first-round pick has been nothing short of dominant since arriving in Baltimore. According to PFSN’s offensive line player metric, Linderbaum has never finished a season with a grade lower than a B. His lowest impact score was recorded in the 2023-24 season, when he received a score of 84.2. Having a stalwart in the middle of your offensive line like that is critical for any offense.
When it comes to his next contract, the market is already taking shape. This past offseason, the top center to hit free agency was Drew Dalman, who signed a three-year, $42 million deal with the Chicago Bears. While Dalman is a solid player, he is not on Linderbaum’s level. In three of his five NFL seasons, Dalman has struggled as a pass protector, while Linderbaum has proven to be a complete player in both the run and passing games.
Linderbaum’s next contract will almost certainly surpass Dalman’s, potentially making him the highest-paid center in the NFL. The challenge for the Ravens is a simple matter of finances. With big-money deals already tied up in quarterback Lamar Jackson and other key positions, retaining their Pro Bowl center for the long term could prove very difficult for the franchise.
