The Los Angeles Rams have made a bold statement in the 2025 NFL free agency period, earning high marks for their aggressive moves. By extending quarterback Matthew Stafford and signing free agent wide receiver Davante Adams, the Rams have embraced a “win-now” approach, aiming to reignite their offense and bolster their defense.

Rams Receive Top Grade in 2025 NFL Free Agency
In what has been a frantic offseason for the reigning NFC West champions, the Rams have earned an A- grade in PFSN’s free agency grades for 2025.
The decision to extend Stafford is a crucial move for the Rams. Losing him in a weak FA quarterback market and a subpar draft class would have been a major setback for head coach Sean McVay. Reports previously linked the Rams to Aaron Rodgers, but keeping Stafford sends a clear message that Los Angeles remains committed to competing at the highest level.
Signing Adams helps ease the sting of parting ways with former Offensive Player of the Year Cooper Kupp. While Kupp and Adams are similar in age, Adams brings a bigger frame and a proven ability to create separation and make contested catches.
The last two seasons have been challenging for Adams, but reuniting with an elite quarterback like Stafford could help him return to Pro Bowl form. In 2024 with the New York Jets, Adams posted the highest yards after catch per reception of his seven-year career.
Adding Adams to a Rams’ WR room that already includes Puka Nacua and Tutu Atwell gives Stafford a wealth of weapons.
Los Angeles’ rushing defense was a major weakness in 2024, as they allowed the ninth-most yards per carry to opposing running backs. To address this issue, the Rams signed defensive lineman Poona Ford from the Los Angeles Chargers.
Ford was ranked 70th in PFSN’s top free agent rankings, with analyst Kyle Soppe writing, “Ford has played every game in four of the past five seasons and provides the type of run-stopping presence that this team lacked a season ago in Year 1 of the post-Aaron Donald era.”
According to PFSN, the Rams ranked 22nd in success rate against the run in 2024, largely due to their 16% deficiency compared to the NFL average in limiting yardage gained before contact.
With the departure of defensive tackle Bobby Brown III to the Carolina Panthers, Ford’s presence could help shore up LA’s interior defensive line.
Rams Key Departures and Roster Management
Beyond Kupp, the Rams had other notable departures, including trading away guard Jonah Jackson and losing free agent Demarcus Robinson.
Meanwhile, right tackle Rob Havenstein is set to become a free agent in 2026 when he’ll be 34, so the team might opt to address his potential replacement in the draft.
Safeties Kamren Curl and Quentin Lake are also scheduled to hit free agency in 2026, along with cornerbacks Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick. The young quartet will be looking for a pay bump coming off their rookie deals.
The Rams have positioned themselves well for the 2025 season, and it’ll be interesting to see whether they can live up to their win-now aspirations.
