Las Vegas Raiders rookie running back Ashton Jeanty has a bright NFL career ahead. The Boise State product was the sixth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and is projected to be the team’s starting running back.
He recently appeared on the “St. Brown Podcast” with the St. Brown brothers — Amon-Ra and Equanimeous — and showed how young he is by not being able to name some NFL legends.
Ashton Jeanty Struggles To Recognize NFL Legends, Fans React
Jeanty was the consensus RB1 in this year’s draft class, following two stellar collegiate seasons.
In 2023, he led the Mountain West Conference with 220 carries, 1,347 yards, and 14 rushing touchdowns. His historic 2024 campaign saw him lead the FBS in carries (374) and yards (2,601), while adding 29 rushing scores. He earned All-American honors, finished second in Heisman Trophy voting, and was widely considered a blue-chip prospect.
Jeanty is now the featured ball carrier for a Raiders’ offense that struggled immensely with its ground game in 2024. Alexander Mattison led the team with 420 yards and four rushing touchdowns, and the team rushed for a league-worst 1,357 total yards.
He’s set up to step in and contribute right away, but Jeanty has to brush up on his knowledge of the game.
Jeanty recently appeared on the “St. Brown Podcast” and played a game of “You Don’t Know Ball” with the brothers. The show’s X account posted a clip of the brothers showing Jeanty a series of pictures of NFL legends to see how many the rookie running back knew. Amon-Ra St. Brown asked Jeanty what year he was born, and was shocked when he said 2003.
Jeanty got off to a rocky start by mistaking Vince Young for Donovan McNabb. Young’s picture was of him in a Philadelphia Eagles jersey, but that’s not the best excuse.

He breezed through Calvin Johnson, Baker Mayfield, and Brett Favre before faltering on Golden Tate. After drawing a blank on Marques Colston, Jeanty correctly identified Kam Chancellor. He then needed assistance to name Darren Sproles but eventually got him and Todd Gurley. Jeanty had no clue who Champ Bailey was.
While the first-round rookie didn’t perform terribly at identifying former players, Dov Kleiman’s tweeted clip garnered significant fan reaction. One fan tweeted, “wow…I’m really that old huh?”

Another fan said, “Wow these young guys don’t respect the game.” Another responded in the same vein, tweeting, “Buddy don’t know ball.”
One fan had the quick and simple response of, “wtf”
Some fans took their responses a bit deeper with a few getting specific to the players Jeanty attempted to name. One said, “It’s kinda offensive they don’t know how McNabb look.” McNabb and Young both played for the Eagles, but didn’t overlap. McNabb spent 11 seasons in Philadelphia but left in 2010, and Young’s only year as an Eagle was 2011.

Another fan took offense to Jeanty not knowing what Bailey looked like, tweeting, “Ain’t knew CHAMP crazy work”
The best reaction was one that involved Jeanty’s Raiders teammate Brock Bowers. The fan tweeted, “Doesn’t surprise me, he also had no clue who Brock Bowers was and he was drafted just last year.”
Jeanty could become the next great Raiders running back, but he won’t be winning any NFL history trivia games anytime soon. Let’s hope that one day he’s being named by a rookie after a stellar NFL career.
