A new era has begun for the Las Vegas Raiders with Pete Carroll anchoring the coaching staff and star quarterback Geno Smith under center.
The hope is Carroll will start constructing a strong culture in Las Vegas, which did not previously exist and could be rooted in one word: boldness. With the 2025 NFL Draft on the horizon, it presents another opportunity to make an ambitious move or two. The Raiders’ No. 6 pick is more likely to be used on filling a gap on offense, but a blockbuster trade could strengthen their shaky secondary.

Raiders Predicted To Acquire Jalen Ramsey in Trade With Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins are looking to trade away cornerback Jalen Ramsey, which general manager Chris Grier revealed in a recent press conference. Considering he is a three-time All-Pro, Super Bowl champion, and seven-time Pro Bowler, it’s easy to see why trade ideas are swirling.
One of the latest proposed deals comes from Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton, who predicts the Raiders to acquire Ramsey for the No. 108 pick and wide receiver Tre Tucker.
“The Las Vegas Raiders need to rebuild their defensive back room this offseason. They lost safeties Tre’von Moehrig and Marcus Epps and nickelback Nate Hobbs in free agency and cut cornerback Jack Jones,” Moton wrote. “General manager John Spytek has shopped in the bargain-bin aisle of free agency thus far, but he may be willing to make an aggressive move for a high-level player who fills a significant need, especially if it doesn’t cost him a premium draft pick.”
Las Vegas’ defense was No. 21 in PFSN’s Defense+ metric, coming in one spot above the Tennessee Titans and one place behind the New York Giants. For an organization clearly fed up with disappointing campaigns, this is not an ideal position to be in.
A CB room of Eric Stokes, Decamerion Richardson, and Jakorian Bennett should worry defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. Adding the established veteran, Ramsey, would not solely fix their secondary problems, but it’s a strong step in the right direction. Even if his production continues to drop, he can hopefully evolve into a mentor and strong locker room presence.
The Dolphins’ defense would take a hit in this scenario, but they also free themselves of his lucrative $72 million contract and could address the void with the No. 13 or 48 pick in the draft.
“With the recent trade buzz around wide receiver Tyreek Hill, the Dolphins may be willing to acquire speedy wideout Tre Tucker and a fourth-round pick from the Raiders,” Moton concluded.
Hill and Ramsey are the only All-Pros on Miami’s roster, but it seems very possible neither will be on the roster by the start of the 2025 season.
