Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was the nation’s top overall recruit in 2021. After initially enrolling at Ohio State, Ewers returned to his home state to play for the Longhorns.
While Ewers has yet to live up to the expectations placed upon him coming out of high school, he is viewed as a potential player on the rise in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Let’s take a look at Ewers’ performance in 2024, his projected landing spot in our latest mock draft, player comparisons, and more.
Where Did Ewers Land in Our Most Recent NFL Mock Draft?
In Pro Football Network NFL Draft Analyst Ian Cummings’ latest seven-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Ewers was selected with the No. 35 overall pick by the Tennessee Titans.
Here is what Cummings had to say about Ewers landing in Tennessee:
“In this 2025 NFL Mock Draft, the Titans manage to add Will Levis’ potential replacement in Quinn Ewers — ironically at the top of Round 2, the same place Levis was taken.
Ewers doesn’t quite have Levis’ arm strength, but he’s a much more natural off-platform passer, with superior accuracy and control in high-pressure situations.”

Ewers’ Best Landing Spots in the NFL
Although Ewers might not be ranked among the top QBs in the 2025 NFL Draft, he could potentially land in a more favorable situation from a coaching and talent standpoint at the next level. Here are three potential landing spots for Ewers in the NFL.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Despite a questionable QB situation in 2025 and beyond, the Pittsburgh Steelers likely won’t be picking high enough to select one of the top prospects at the position in the NFL Draft. Therefore, Pittsburgh could target Ewers in the second half of the first round if he continues to rise up draft boards with his performance in 2024.
New York Jets
The Aaron Rodgers experience isn’t exactly going as planned thus far in East Rutherford, N.J. While the New York Jets could make a playoff run, they need to start thinking about their long-term plan at QB. Ewers would be the perfect target to add late in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft to sit behind Rodgers for possibly one more season before eventually taking the reins.
Tennessee Titans
There’s a reason why Cummings had the Titans selecting Ewers at the top of the second round in his latest mock draft. Given the struggles of Levis in Tennessee, the Titans could look to add some much-needed help at QB in the 2025 NFL Draft. While they could elect to target a different position in the first round, Ewers could be a potential steal on Day 2.
Ewers’ Scouting Report
Here’s a glimpse at Cummings’ scouting report on Ewers, who could continue to climb draft boards by stringing together strong performances following his return from injury.
“Ewers has a well-documented five-star pedigree, and his elite composite arm talent has drawn the awe of onlookers for years on end. But that ranking has also contributed to lots of residual hype in his draft-eligible phase — and in truth, he has more work to do.
“Ewers’ arm elasticity is special, and it allows him to remain a passing threat from virtually any platform. He has more than enough strength to pair with that angle freedom, and while he’s not overly explosive or fast, he is quick enough to be a modest creative presence.
“Going further, the high-end flashes of execution where Ewers is able to channel these tools are very impressive. He can layer pace and touch beautifully on vertical and seam throws, and he does flash the ability to recognize opportunities pre-snap and capitalize.”
Quinn Ewers’ 2024 Season Stats and Game Breakdowns
Ewers has missed two games for the Longhorns in 2024 due to an abdomen strain. Despite the hype surrounding Texas backup QB Arch Manning, Ewers will officially reclaim his role as the team’s starting QB against Oklahoma.
Here’s how Ewers has performed through his first three games of the season in 2024.
Completions: 103
Attempts: 151
Completion Percentage: 68.2%
Passing Yards: 1,101
Passing Touchdowns: 11
Interceptions: 4
Ewers’ most notable performance was against the Michigan Wolverines on Sept. 7. Despite facing one of the best teams in the nation, Ewers was able to lead the Longhorns to a rather convincing 31-12 victory.
Ewers completed 24 of his 36 passing attempts for 246 yards, three passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. It was a dominant performance against the Wolverines, who many believed had one of the top defenses in college football coming into the 2024 season.
Ewers struggled and was briefly benched during Texas’ home loss to the Georgia Bulldogs on October 19. He passed for 211 yards with two touchdowns and one interception as the Longhorns’ second-half rally fell short in the 30-15 defeat.
When Is Ewers Playing Next?
Ewers and the No. 5 Texas Longhorns will try to bounce back on the road against the No. 25 Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. ET. You can watch the game on SEC Network.
Ewers and his team will aim to improve their record to 6-1 on the season.
