For seven seasons, Josh Allen has been the driving force behind a Buffalo Bills franchise chasing its first Super Bowl appearance in nearly three decades.
The dynamic quarterback, selected seventh overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, has compiled impressive statistics and earned league-wide recognition, but the Bills have yet to reach the pinnacle of the sport. Allen’s leadership, arm talent, and running ability have made Buffalo a perennial contender, and the team’s high-powered offense was among the NFL’s best last season.
Allen has thrown for 26,434 yards, 195 touchdowns, and 84 interceptions, completing 63.3% of his pass attempts. He has also rushed for 4,142 yards and 65 touchdowns on 759 carries.
Named the 2024 NFL MVP, Allen has earned two All-Pro selections and three Pro Bowl nods. Despite his individual success, the Bills are still searching for their first Super Bowl berth during his tenure.
Last season, the Bills offense ranked second in scoring and 10th in total yards. According to PFSN’s Offense+ metric, Buffalo was ranked as the fourth-best unit in the NFL. The defense, on the other hand, finished in the middle of the pack, ranking 11th in scoring defense and 17th in total yards allowed. According to PFSN’s Defense+ metric, the Bills defense was 18th in the league.
Damar Hamlin, a key member of the defense who made 14 starts last season, recently compared Allen to a rising star in Major League Baseball.
Hamlin, who made national headlines in January 2023 after suffering cardiac arrest on the field, is originally from the Pittsburgh area. A sixth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, he also played five seasons of college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Damar Hamlin Compares Allen to Rising MLB Star
Recently, Hamlin attended a Pittsburgh Pirates game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Paul Skenes, the Pirates’ highly touted rookie pitcher, took the mound for the home team, throwing five shutout innings with five strikeouts in a 1-0 victory. Hamlin, clearly impressed, took to social media to compare Skenes to his starting quarterback.
“Paul Skenes is ELITE! Literally like watching JA17 play baseball this is crazy 🤦🏾♂️⚾️🔥”

Skenes took the league by storm as a rookie in 2024, following his selection as the first overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft.
He quickly rose through the minor leagues, making 23 starts and finishing with an 11-3 record, a 1.96 ERA, and 170 strikeouts. Skenes earned All-Star honors, was named National League Rookie of the Year, and finished third in the NL Cy Young voting.
So far in 2025, Skenes has continued to dominate despite limited run support. Through 18 starts, he is 4-7 with an NL-leading 2.03 ERA and 115 strikeouts. He is expected to make his second consecutive appearance in the Midsummer Classic.
