Bill Belichick’s tenure with the North Carolina Tar Heels is underway, but the topic of conversation in the media has been his relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson. The two have made headlines multiple times, and former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman thinks it’s time for something to change.
Jordon Hudson Wasn’t a Part of the Bill Belichick Deal in North Carolina
When Belichick signed a deal worth $10 million per season at North Carolina, the focus was on the football program and its potential future success. The 73-year-old coach, who won six Super Bowls in the NFL, is expected to have a major impact on recruiting players to UNC.
However, in recent weeks and months, the attention around Belichick has shifted from football to his personal life. Known for keeping things private during his time with New England, Belichick’s relationship with Hudson has quickly changed that.
Photos of Belichick and his new girlfriend are now all over social media, and questions are swirling about her involvement in his career. Incidents such as the Dunkin’ Donuts Super Bowl commercial in February raised eyebrows. The ad featured Belichick alongside Ben Affleck and others, but reports claim Hudson pushed to be included in the final cut.
Hudson was also reportedly behind the cancellation of the UNC “Hard Knocks” series. Her list of production demands was allegedly so extensive that the crew decided to walk away.
Most recently, during Belichick’s sit-down with CBS to promote his new book, Hudson played a dominant role in the production and even interrupted the interview, saying “we’re not talking about this,” when Belichick was asked how the two met.
The moment was so awkward that CBS released a statement, and UNC officials are reportedly growing concerned that Hudson may become a distraction to the football program.
One of Belichick’s most successful former players, Edelman, addressed the issue on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”
“This is becoming a distraction. We gotta practice what we preach here!
“We gotta start worrying about the ACC. We gotta start worrying about Dabo Swinney. We shouldn’t be talking about our girlfriend. And that’s how coach would say it to us. So, you know, that’s the truth. You know, when it comes down to running a football organization and playing football, let’s make the main thing the main thing.”
Belichick has never had a problem dodging questions he didn’t want to answer. The “we’re onto Cincinnati” moment remains one of the most iconic in NFL history. He was known for staying focused and in control.
Now, at 73, Belichick has a 24-year-old girlfriend apparently acting as both partner and agent — monitoring his moves and even stepping in during interviews. Hudson has even appeared on the field during UNC practices, with the program reportedly voicing concerns over her presence.
It’s a strange situation, and the media coverage continues to grow. As Edelman said, UNC needs to “make the main thing the main thing” — and do it fast.
