Patrick Mahomes and His Wife Visit Parade Victims at Children’s Hospital

Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, spent time with two sisters recovering from wounds suffered at the shooting that took place during the parade.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, 43, was killed at Wednesday’s Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade. Lopez-Galvan’s cousin had eight-year-old and 10-year-old daughters who were each shot in the leg during the shooting.

The Reyes family, in a statement, said that the sisters will be in casts for several months after undergoing surgery to treat the gunshot wounds but are making good progress in their recovery.

Patrick Mahomes Visits the Reyes Family

The two sisters received two surprise visitors on Friday when Patrick and Brittany Mahomes arrived at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Patrick and Brittany spent time with the Reyes family as they began their recovery.

The family said in a statement, “We want to give a personal thank you to the staff of Children’s Mercy Hospital and Patrick and Brittany Mahomes for their outpouring care, love, and support.”

The Reyes family statement included, “On behalf of the Reyes Family, we are incredibly grateful for the love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. Our family, along with the other families impacted by this senseless act, are still healing physically and emotionally.”

Lisa Lopez-Galvan’s Family Receives Support

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, 43, was the mother of two and a radio show host and DJ at KKFI, a Kansas City radio station.

Her family released a statement on Thursday: “We are heartbroken with the loss of our loved one, Elizabeth ‘Lisa’ Lopez-Galvan, who was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many.”

The statement continued. “Lisa leaves behind her husband of 22 years, Mike, and two children, Marc and Adriana. We ask to please keep our family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of Lisa’s death while also supporting our other loved ones who were impacted in this senseless act.”

Taylor Swift made two $50,000 donations to Lopez-Galvan’s GoFundMe fundraiser. The message after each donation was: “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift”

Manny Abarca, Lopez-Galvan’s friend, was at the shooting and told CNN, “Lisa leaves behind an incredible legacy. She comes from a very large family of civic leaders actively and regularly engaged in both the Latino community of Kansas City and the broad civic community.”

The Chiefs posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), “In partnership with United Way of Greater Kansas City, we’ve launched #KCStrong, an emergency response fund supporting victims and their families, violence prevention and mental health services, and first responders.”
