The College GameDay host also believes that college football got lucky that Hunter is playing for Colorado under Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders’ tutelage. Hunter’s unique role as a two-way player, excelling on both offense and defense, has been groundbreaking.
According to McAfee, many traditional coaches might’ve pushed Hunter to choose between offense and defense, but Coach Prime recognized Hunter’s unparalleled abilities and encouraged him to go all in.

Hunter Calls on Colorado Teammates for Heisman Trophy
Hunter joined McAfee and Nick Saban on College GameDay to chat about the Buffs and his impressive play on both sides of the ball. Reflecting on his journey calmly, Hunter talked about the team’s effort and commitment to excellence.
“We just got to go out there and play ball,” he shared. “We know our fans are going to back us up…But as a team, we know we’ve just got to go out there and finish at a high level, and play good ball down the stretch.”
Predicted to be one of the top NFL Draft prospects in 2025, Hunter is being eyed by several teams who are looking for more than one solution to their problems. The Colorado CB/WR’s versatility fits right into that demand.
However, Hunter has another goal — the coveted Heisman Trophy. His two-way skills and standout performances on the field have made him a hot topic in the 2024 college football season.
