Fan voting for the monumental award will take place from November 3 to November 9 ahead of the awards ceremony.

McLaughlin-Levrone has already captured this award once, winning it in 2024 thanks to her performances at the Paris Olympics, where she won a gold medal and broke her own world record in the 400m hurdles twice.

She will find out if she needs to make some more space in her cabinet for an award at the 2025 World Athletics Awards ceremony in Monaco on November 30.

Bol ‘Disappointed’ Not To Be Able to Race McLaughlin-Levrone This Year

Ahead of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Bol expressed her disappointment at not being able to race against McLaughlin-Levrone in the 400m hurdles event. In an interview with Olympics.com, she said, “Maybe it’s a bit of a disappointment. It’s a shame. As a track and field enthusiast, I think it’s great that she’s going to do the 400. But as an athlete, I’d love to run against her. That just hasn’t happened very often.”

The Dutch track star also had some high praise for her, calling her one of the best to ever compete in her event. “It’s always unique to compete against her. I love it, even though there’s a very good chance I’ll finish second. She’s the very best ever in the event I do, so it remains special.”

McLaughlin-Levrone and Bol have competed against each other on three major occasions: the Tokyo Olympics, the 2022 World Championships, and the Paris Olympics. On all three occasions, the American managed to stand out as the winner while Bol followed closely behind.
