What Sha’Carri Richardson Said About Bringing Olympic-Level Energy To Every Meet

Track and field star Sha’Carri Richardson is preparing hard for the next season after experiencing a roller-coaster ride this year. The 25-year-old world champion recently shared her approach to treating every athletic meet equally.

Despite struggling with recurring injuries and inconsistent form, the Olympic medalist sprinter finished the year on a decent note with a gold medal at the Tokyo World Championships. The sprinter also shared her thoughts about the ATHLOS meet scheduled for next year.

Sha’Carri Richardson Reveals Her Approach to Treating Every Meet Like The Olympics

In her recent interview with the Players’ portal, Richardson said she treated every athletic event as if she were competing in the Olympics. The track and field star mentioned in the interview,

“I see myself shaping the view of track and field as something that doesn’t just happen every four years, but literally is followed each and every year. I do that by treating every meet like the [Olympic] Games, and showing up with my best energy, my strongest exterior, physically, mentally, emotionally on point, and treating track and field like it’s just as important and just as exciting as any other sport.”

Richardson had led the anchor leg in the women’s 4x100m relay finals at the Tokyo World Championships. She won the gold medal as Team USA clocked 41.75 seconds.

Richardson Talks About Admiration For The ATHLOS Meet

Richardson also talked about her admiration for the ATHLOS meet. The 25-year-old sprinter had previously joined the ATHLOS meet as a founder cum advisor, alongside fellow track and field stars like Gabby Thomas and Tara Davis-Woodhall.

Richardson added further in her interview with the Players’ portal,

“I’m excited to be a part of this athlete-led platform [Athlos],” said Richardson. “The opportunities we’ve shown we can create in this sport, not just for athletes but for the business partners, show that track and field can be an investment that is just as lucrative as any other sport right now.”

Sha’Carri didn’t participate in the ATHLOS meet this year, but is expected to make her presence in 2026. Richardson was one of the few track and field stars who didn’t opt for the Grand Slam Track League, which former Olympic sprinting legend Michael Johnson promoted.

Richardson’s Performance In The 2025 Season

Richardson participated in fewer meets this season due to recurring injuries. She qualified for the World Championships based on her performances at the 2023 edition in Budapest, Hungary. Sha’Carri’s best performance at the Diamond League came in the Brussels meet, where she finished second overall with a time of 11.08 seconds.
