Pittsburgh’s Olivia Babcock Sends 2-Word Reaction After Earning Back-to-Back ACC Player of the Year Honors

Olivia Babcock has once again dazzled on the main stage, clinching the ACC Player of the Year award for a remarkable second straight season. With Babcock leading the charge, the Panthers stormed through the regular season and secured a share of their fourth consecutive ACC Championship after a decisive victory over Georgia.

Babcock, who plays as an opposite hitter, earned the award last season after winning the ACC Championship and recording over 500 kills.

What Message Did Olivia Babcock Send After Winning ACC Player Of The Year Award?

Babcock has established herself as one of the brightest talents in the nation since joining the Panthers in 2023. Despite being ranked as only the No. 43 recruit as part of her class, she proved that she should’ve been ranked higher in her freshman year, leading the team in points (536.5), kills (420), and aces (51). Babcock also earned the AVCA National Freshman of the Year, becoming the first in program history to do so.

The Los Angeles native took to Instagram to share her reaction to winning the ACC Award once again, writing: “so grateful 🤞🤞”.

Babcock was joined in the spotlight by her teammates, as Bre Kelley made history as the program’s first ACC Defensive Player of the Year. The Panthers’ dominance was further underscored with Brooke Mosher, Blaire Bayless, and Marina Pezelj all earning spots on All-ACC teams, a testament to the squad’s remarkable depth and talent this season.

Babcock Makes Feelings Known On What Keeps Her Grounded

Babcock has earned her place among the nation’s elite volleyball players. As the Panthers prepare for the opening round of the NCAA tournament on Friday, all eyes are on Babcock to spark their championship run. With so much riding on her performance, what keeps her grounded and focused on her ambitions?

In an interview on Inside the Panthers, she discussed her mindset and what keeps her humble: (8:25 onwards) “I feel like just always remembering that you have something to prove. I feel like obviously I’m very happy about my past success, but this year I’ve proven nothing. Just got to stay hungry for more. And obviously playing for my teammates also helps, because this is not a one-man game.” she stated.

In the Panthers’ win over Georgia, Babcock earned her 1,500th career kill, finishing the game with 10 kills and 3 blocks. Despite earning another individual accolade this season, it’s clear that this will not satisfy her as she looks to help improve upon the Panthers’ exit in the Final Four of the NCAA Championships last season.
