Penn State Wrestling had a strong showing last season, having won a fourth straight NCAA title. The 2025 – 26 season has just kicked off, and Penn State is gearing up for an exciting weekend of matches, both home and away, as the Nittany Lions are set to go up against Drexel and Lehigh.
The Lions kicked off the season with a game against Oklahoma, which they won 45-0. They also went up against Black Knight Invitational in late November, securing a decisive victory with 197 points.
What is the Schedule for Penn State Wrestling Matches This Weekend?
The first Penn State Wrestling match of the weekend will kick off on Friday, December 5. The Nittany Lions will face Drexel on away turf in Philadelphia, and this will mark the third time both teams have faced off against each other.
Last year, the Lions faced the Dragons on home turf and won 41-3 as part of their 15-0 campaign. They met for the first time in the 2002 – 03 season, and Penn State similarly clinched the title.

The second Penn State Wrestling match is scheduled for Sunday, December 7, and the Lions will face Lehigh at home in University Park, Pa., at Rec Hall.
Notably, last year, Penn State defeated Lehigh 36-3 in Allentown after winning nine out of 10 bouts. As such, they will look to repeat history this coming weekend.

Penn State Wrestling Earns 2027 Commitment From Two-Time State Champ
The 2025-26 season has just kicked off for Penn State Wrestling; however, the collegiate wrestling team has already added a top-10 recruit to its 2027 class.
Grey Burnett, a two-time state champion from Perrysburg High School in Ohio, has opted to join Penn State instead of Ohio. In addition to Burnett, four others have also committed to join the Nittany Lions in 2027.
Burnett will be joined by Landon Sidun, who finished his freshman year 42 -2, winning a state championship at 114 pounds. The other three wrestlers who have committed to Penn State include James Whitbred, Gavin Mangano, and Will Soto.
