Nebraska Volleyball’s Andi Jackson Stunned After Learning She Set the Big Ten Single-Season Hitting Efficiency Record

Nebraska volleyball star Andi Jackson has been one of the program’s top performers throughout the regular season. The junior middle blocker recently added another impressive milestone to her resume, finishing with a conference-best .561 hitting percentage in Big Ten play.

However, Jackson had no idea she had set the record after Nebraska’s 3-0 sweep over Ohio State, in the final match of the regular season. She only learned about the achievement during her on-court interview.

How Did Nebraska Volleyball’s Andi Jackson Take the News of Her Record-Breaking Season?

The Huskers standout was visibly surprised and grateful when told about her historic efficiency. Reacting with genuine disbelief during an on-court interview, Jackson said: “Oh my gosh! Yeah, wow, I’m so grateful. I didn’t know that. That’s awesome. No, I didn’t know that, but wow, I’m just, I’m super grateful.”

Meanwhile, she credited her success to her teammates’ support and praised coach Dani Busboom Kelly, adding, “That’s pretty awesome, but like I always say, it’s credit to my team and I’ve just had so much fun this season and it’s a really fun group that we get to play with and Danny’s been so awesome as a head coach.”

“I just think I have so much joy when I play and I think it shows on the court how mch fun we have as a team and it’s really showed,” she further mentioned.

While the regular season has ended with Nebraska completing a flawless 30-0 campaign and becoming the first Big Ten team to go 20-0 in conference play since Penn State in 2009, the Huskers’ main goal now shifts to the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship.

The Huskers last won a national championship was back in 2017 when they beat the Florida women’s team to claim their fifth title.

The Huskers clinched their third consecutive Big Ten title with a sweep over Indiana, but instead of celebrating on the road, they chose to bring the trophy home to the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

When asked how meaningful it was to mark the moment in Lincoln, the Nebraska junior said that celebrating in front of Husker fans made the achievement even more special. During an interview with press, she added that it meant a lot to have her aunt, uncle, and cousins in attendance, family members who rarely get to watch her play.

“I think it’s just super special that they have the opportunity to come watch us celebrate and then Harper said, the fans, they do so much for us and we want them to be a part of the special moment. So, I just think it’s a super cool thing that we get to celebrate here and celebrate out on the court,” she added.

She also noted that in previous years, celebrations on the road were confined to the locker room, but being able to share this title on their home court, surrounded by fans, family, and friends, made the experience even more memorable.
