Nebraska Volleyball Freshman Shares Powerful Message of Faith After Back-to-Back Starts

Nebraska volleyball player Teraya Sigler shared a powerful message of faith from Psalm 49:15 in the Bible. She recently started in both of Nebraska’s matches last weekend against Oregon and Wisconsin.

The Huskers swept both opponents 3-0 and extended their dominant unbeaten run to 22-0 in the 2025 regular season.

What Message Did Nebraska Volleyball’s Teraya Sigler Send About Faith?

After contributing to Nebraska’s recent victories, the outside hitter shared an Instagram Story featuring a Bible verse expressing her trust in God’s redemption and strength. Through the message, she conveyed that her faith brings her peace and hope, regardless of the challenges that lie ahead.

She wrote in her story: “But for me, God will redeem my life. He will snatch me from the power of the grave”. In a separate message, she added: “Thank you, Jesus, for another day!!”

In an earlier interview with ‘1890 Nebraska,’ the former U.S. Girls U21 National Team member shared that spending time with God helps her navigate the demands of a long volleyball season. She acknowledged that staying calm and focused can be challenging as a college athlete, given the constant balance between practices, workouts, school, and social life.

When things start to feel overwhelming, she turns to her faith and conversations with God to find peace and stability.

It is worth noting that Sigler announced her verbal commitment to Nebraska’s program in June 2023, calling the moment ‘a dream come true’ via an Instagram post.

Sigler Shares How Competitive Nebraska’s Training Sessions Really Are

Sigler, the Gatorade Arizona Player of the Year winner in 2024-25, spoke about the highly competitive nature of Nebraska’s practice sessions. She explained that, being naturally competitive herself, she enjoys that same energy within the team.

Despite the intensity on the court, Sigler shared that the players maintain a close bond off the court, which makes the experience both challenging and enjoyable. During the same interview with 1890 Nebraska, she opened up about the competitive sessions at Nebraska:

“I grew up in a very competitive family with the game nights, who got the first Hawaiian rolls at Thanksgiving, just like literally anything. I don’t know, it’s so funny because we are like closest friends off the court. And then on the court, it’s like, ‘All right, like I’m going to beat you and rip your head off.'”

Sigler also stated that the constant competition pushes her to test her limits both mentally and physically, helping her improve as a player. When asked about her favorite part of being in Nebraska, she expressed appreciation for the warmth and friendliness she’s experienced here, noting that such kindness isn’t something she often saw growing up.
