The Michigan Wolverines faced off against the Gonzaga Bulldogs, defeating them 101–61. Following the incredible victory, legendary Olympian Michael Phelps celebrated the performance with a celebratory post on Instagram.
The match at MGM Grand Garden Arena marked Michigan’s fourth-straight 20-plus-point win and Gonzaga’s first loss of the season. Michigan has now earned $1 million in additional NIL compensation, while Gonzaga went home with $500,000.

To celebrate the win, Phelps shared a post by ESPN breaking down Michigan’s winning scores over their last three games. Before facing off against Gonzaga, the Wolverines defeated the Auburn Tigers 102-72, and prior to that, they defeated the San Diego State Aztecs 94-54.

Phelps then shared the post on his Instagram story with the caption, “Let’s go blue!”
During the game between Michigan and Gonzaga, the former team took an early lead, and barely 10 minutes into the match, they were at 33-14. At the end of the day. After Gonzaga’s loss to Michigan, the Bulldogs’ coach, Mark Few, couldn’t help but note that it was a bit unusual for his team to suffer such a landslide loss. He said that being defeated like they were isn’t something that happens “ordinarily.”
”We got absolutely throttled, so I’ve never been involved with anything like that, so this is going to be a great challenge and learning experience for me,” he added.
Despite the tough loss, Few reflected on Gonzaga’s performance up until their most recent game, noting that the team has excelled so far. Putting the game against Michigan aside, he said that they had “an incredible November.”
