Lindsey Vonn Makes Her Position Clear on Her 2026 Winter Olympics Medal Hopes

Lindsey Vonn is not ready to retire without making one last attempt at another Olympic medal. The American World Cup alpine ski racer recently revealed her intentions to compete in the upcoming Winter Olympics.

Vonn, one of the highest-ranked skiers, has won a record eight World Cup titles in the downhill event. She also has a total of 82 World Cup victories and has won multiple medals in the Olympics.

What Did Lindsey Vonn Say About Competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics?

Vonn underwent knee replacement surgery last year and is looking to make a huge comeback in the upcoming Olympics. She is now aiming for another medal, hoping to conclude her career on a better note than she did the first time, in 2019.

The 41-year-old athlete spoke candidly about the upcoming Olympic Games in Milan, saying it would be “a great opportunity to end my career in a different, hopefully more positive way than the first time in 2019″.

She believes that this time around, she has a real shot at going home with a big win. “I think I have a chance. Last winter was a rollercoaster, with ups and downs. But overall, I’ve proven that I can still compete at the front,” Vonn said.

Having overcome multiple injuries in the past, the World Champion believes herself to be “The Terminator.” She noted that each time she experienced a setback due to injury, it only strengthened her resolve to keep pressing on towards her goals.

”I already feel like the Terminator in some ways. I’ve been rebuilt several times. Each time hasn’t necessarily made me physically stronger, but it has made me stronger as a person,” she declared.

    Skiing Means ‘Everything’ To Vonn

Vonn’s passion for skiing is not lost on anyone. During an interview with Red Bull, the alpine ski racer was asked to share what skiing means to her, and she said, “Everything.”

“The mountains are my happy place, where I find and feel joy. I feel freer [there] – stronger, more present, like anything is possible. There’s nothing better than skiing, going fast, racing,” she added.

Vonn revealed that she wasn’t very good at sports growing up. However, after competing in her first race at the age of seven, she became highly competitive and always aimed to come back stronger after every setback.
