Former 100m world champion Fred Kerley’s decision to join the controversial Enhanced Games has sparked a debate in the track and field world.
While Enhanced Games gives athletes the platform to compete with the assistance of performance-enhancing substances, not everyone’s sold on the concept.
Fans have also come out in criticism against Kerley over this decision, primarily after reports emerged that he was suspended by the Athletics Integrity United [AIU] due to whereabouts failure.
The 30-year-old defended himself against those accusations in reply to a fan’s comment over the incident.

The instance started with Kerley posting a video of his training sessions on his X handle and flexing. A fan on the social media platform shared the video and hit back at Kerley, stating that the athlete was publicly showcasing that he uses substances for his body. The user wrote:
“Fred just casually telling the world we all do it. 💉 💊”
Reacting to the video, the former 100m Olympic champion dropped a three-word message, writing:
“All natural son.”

In the same post, Kerley was approached by another fan, stating that the world won’t believe the former unless he posts the test results. Replying to this, he wrote:
“I don’t got to post s**t that what USADA doing their job keep testing me.”

Kerley was last seen competing at the Grand Sprint Series event in Norwalk, where he won the 100m race. Prior to that event, the former 100m world champion also competed in a Diamond League event in Rome, where he finished fifth in the 100m event.
How Did World Athletics President React to Kerley’s Decision to Join the Enhanced Games?
Even though Kerley faced immense heat from the track and field world, his decision to join the Enhanced Games was seemingly based on the financial benefits. Per multiple reports, athletes can earn up to $1 million from the competition that is scheduled to begin in 2026.
During the World Championships 2025, the World Athletics President, Sebastian Coe, was asked to comment on Kerley’s decision. Coe said (via ESPN):
“We’re in a championships. There’s nothing more I need to say. We’ll look at it when we get out of here.”
Notably, Kerley has had immense success on the track so far in his career and has several accolades, such as two Diamond League titles and Olympic medals under his belt.
