Minnesota got stunned by the Nebraska volleyball team, falling in a straight-set sweep to the Huskers with scores of 25-15, 25-21, and 25-20. The defeat was Minnesota’s eighth of the season as the team now holds a 17-8 record.
Following the match, Minnesota volleyball coach Keegan Cook offered an honest reflection on his team’s performance.
How Did Minnesota Coach Acknowledge the Team’s Loss Against Nebraska Volleyball?
Keegan Cook, who was announced as the head coach of the program in December 2022, said he told his team to take pride in their performance, emphasizing the offensive efforts despite the loss. With a .268 hitting percentage in the match, Minnesota set the season high for any team facing Nebraska.
In his post-match remarks, Cook stated: “I told the group to own the stuff we did well. We had some big offensive performances and had some big moments off growth.”
He admitted that defensive consistency was an issue, but added that the loss would serve as motivation moving forward, adding, “Defensively, we had some things that didn’t go so well, we got beat in a couple ways consistently. Overall, we’re leaving here motivated.”
On the other hand, Nebraska continues to dominate women’s collegiate volleyball, leading the AVCA rankings with 1,525 points as of November 3, 2025. They are the only Division I team that hasn’t lost a single game this regular season, holding a 24-0 record.
Dani Busboom Kelly Shares How Nebraska Maintains Focus During Crucial Stretch of the Season
Dani Busboom Kelly discussed how her team is maintaining focus and intensity during a crucial mid-to-late season stretch leading up to the postseason. She acknowledged the self-motivation of the Nebraska players in the face of the tougher challenges ahead. She added that it’s the team’s mindset that has kept them engaged, not any change in coaching strategy.
In an interview with the media ahead of the Huskers’ match following their 3-0 victory over Illinois, Kelly opened up on her team’s focus, stating: “They’re the ones who come in focused every day. I think our leadership’s been good, and they continue to stay hungry. The depth of this team really helps, like I’ve said all year.”
“I also feel like our team knows it’s only a matter of time before we really get pushed, and they’re doing their best to stay ahead of that,” she also mentioned.
It is worth noting that the team will next face UCLA in an away game on Friday, November 14, at the Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, California.
