Capitals Coach Spencer Carbery Called Out Washington’s Play With the Puck
Capitals head Coach Spencer Carbery, who will likely garner consideration for the Jack Adams Trophy as the NHL’s top coach for the 2024-25 season, called out his team’s lack of focus with the puck.
“We weren’t very good with the puck,” Carbery said. “I think it’s firmness. I think it’s a little bit of nerves. It’s a little bit of poise in that environment, whether you’re on the wall, through the neutral zone, in the offensive zone, [we] coughed up a lot of pucks in a lot of different areas.”
“We’ve got to play better in Game 4. That’s our focus, is to reset,” Carbery continued. “We’ll take some things from tonight. We’ll worry about our game first and foremost of playing a lot better in a lot of different areas in Game 4. That’s priority No. 1.”
The Capitals and Canadiens will play Game 4 of the series on Sunday; Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday.
