‘We Deserved To Lose’ — Frustrated Golden Knights Fans Sound Off After Game 1 Loss

The Vegas Golden Knights were defeated by the Edmonton Oilers, a 4-2 final score at T-Mobile Arena in Game 1 of their opening round series.

Vegas, who defeated the Minnesota Wild in six games in their opening round series, now trail for the first time in the postseason.

Golden Knights Fans Were Not Happy With Their Club for Blowing a 2-0 Lead

Vegas fans were clearly frustrated by the outcome of the game, especially after having an early 2-0 lead in the first period.

This fan said, “You guys have to be able to slow things down when you’re on your heels. This mad dash back and forth is a crap shoot.”

One frustrated fan said they deserved their fate, saying, “We deserved to lose that game. We stopped playing 2nd period. 1 shot on goal smdh.”

Keeping in that theme, another fan said, “Yeah, but it would’ve helped if y’all showed up for more than one period of the first game.”

This fan had a sarcastic game plan offer for coach Bruce Cassidy, saying, “Easy fix. Cassidy just needs to remind the team to shoot at the goal. You don’t get points for shoot near the goal. You are welcome coach.”

Another fan was upset with the outcome but stayed optimistic, saying, “what a collapse from vegas they only had 1 shot on goal in the 2nd and after that they shut down when hyman scored but its only game 1, the caps lost in ot to with logan playing great and adin played great until hyman scored but we will be back< from a knights fan.”

Finally, this fan also appeared not to feel the sky was falling, saying, “Knights has a solid 1st period. They were fast. Checking was incredibly on point. Passing was great. And then it seems like the team ran out of gas. Sluggish. Passing was meek. A few good looks on the net but just couldn’t convert. Oh well!”

Golden Knights Players Not Worried Despite Game 1 Loss

Despite the disappointing setback in the opening game, Golden Knights players appeared anything but worried.

“I think we can bounce back,” said Brandon Saad, a two-time Stanley Cup winner. “We’re confident in our group, we let that one slip away, which is tough, especially at home. But, for us, I think there’s no panic. It’s just reset and get onto the next.”

Team captain Mark Stone, who scored both of Vegas’ goals in the first period, is also looking ahead to the next game.

“Obviously not the outcome we wanted,” he said. “There were some good parts of the game, some bad parts of the game. We’ll go over it, get ready for Thursday night’s game because it’s going to be a big one for us.”
