The Winnipeg Jets didn’t experience much losing during the 2024-25 NHL season; after all, they won the President’s Trophy as the NHL’s best regular season team with an impressive 56-22-4 record.
But after taking their two-games-to-none series lead over the St. Louis Blues on the road, the Blues gave their home fans at the sold-out Enterprise Center a night they’ll never forget.
The Blues fought their way back into the series in convincing fashion with a 7-2 blowout victory, ensuring that there will at least be a Game 5 back in Winnipeg next week.
Jets Fans Confused After Stunning 7-2 Loss To Blues
Not only were the Jets not used to losing, but their fans weren’t used to seeing them get blown out like they were on Thursday night in St. Louis.
One fan kept it short and simple, demanding to know, “WHAT HAPPENED?!?”
Another Jets fan was angry at the entire team, saying, “Shameful effort. At least look like you want to compete.”
This fan unleashed his anger by exclaiming, “What an embarrassment!!! Unacceptable!!! Embarrassing!!!!”
Speaking of anger, this fan unleashed his, saying, “That was without a doubt the sh***iest game I’ve seen you guys play this year and tell hellebuyck to stop playing the damn puck.”
Finally, this fan openly expressed his desire to see coach Scott Arniel unleash his own anger on them by saying, “They should be embarrassed. Hopefully Arniel tears a strip off them.”
Jets Coach Scott Arniel Was Blunt In His Postgame Media Availability
Following the game, Jets coach Scott Arniel, who was caught by cameras absolutely laying into the on-ice officials during a heated exchange in a stoppage of play, didn’t pull any punches when it came to his review of Winnipeg’s performance.
“We lost the game in the first period. They scored two goals in the first three minutes, got on our heels, crowd got behind them,” said Arniel.
“We were terrible in the first period, game was over in the first.”
Before the Jets could blink, Pavel Buchnevich scored twice in the opening five minutes of play to give the Blues a 2-0 lead. With the crowd behind them, the Blues continued to pound the Jets into submission en route to a 7-2 win.
The Jets will have a chance to avenge their frustrating setback when they take on the Blues in Game 4 of the series on Sunday afternoon; the puck is scheduled to drop at 1:00 PM EST.
