Jets Coach Scott Arniel Calls Out Referees After Video Review Goes Against Winnipeg

The Dallas Stars are once again back on top of the Winnipeg Jets following their 5-2 triumph on Sunday in Dallas. If they win Game 4, which is scheduled for Tuesday night, the Stars will have the opportunity to build a 3-1 series stranglehold over the Jets.

Dallas’s game-winning goal, credited to Alexander Petrovic, was upheld after a strenuous debate in the NHL situation room in Toronto.

The Jets unsuccessfully challenged that the puck was intentionally kicked into the goal. Winnipeg ended up on the wrong side of the review, as the goal was allowed to stand, but that doesn’t mean they agreed with the call.

‘That is No Goal’ – Winnipeg Jets Coach Scott Arniel

Not surprisingly, Jets head coach Scott Arniel disagreed with the ruling. In fact, he spoke about specific sections of the rule book that he believes were overlooked as part of the decision.

“The rule states that if the puck gets kicked, if it hits a body or a stick of anybody other than the goaltender, it counts as a goal,” Arniel said. “It hit our goaltender’s stick and went in the net. That is no goal. So they said that (Hellebuyck) propelled the puck in, and I haven’t seen the word propelled in the rulebook.”
It wasn’t meant to be for the Jets, who have yet to win a single game away from Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg during the postseason.
