The Vancouver Canucks continue their disappointing run this season, dropping their fifth game in their last seven matchups. While they started their campaign with a 5-1 win over the Flames, inconsistent play quickly cost them multiple easy wins.
But while their latest loss against the Wild on Saturday stung the fans, what really riled them up was the dubious record that Evander Kane set last night with his penalty. Some believe this was the move that cost them the game, as the fans are running out of patience.
What Do Canuck Fans Feel About Evander Kane’s ‘Wild’ Blunders?
The Canucks have continued to struggle since the start of their season, but entering last night’s game against the Wild, many believed that the Canucks would win. They had won their last game against the Rangers, and Minnesota was coming off a five-game losing streak.
But from the opening buzzer, it was clear that the Canucks had failed to address their shortcomings. The Wild quickly scored in the first period to take an early lead and hammered the puck three times in the third period to take the win.
However, what irked the fans the most was how Kane received a 10-minute misconduct penalty after an altercation with Minnesota winger Marcus Foligno. But that wasn’t the end, as he continued to yell throughout the TV timeout while the linesman tried to get him to exit.
Evander Kane and Marcus Foligno get 10-minute misconducts, then Kane spends entire TV timeout screaming at the refs from 25 feet away with the linesmen trying to get him to exit. Came after he wanted no part of Foligno after Foligno pulled him off Eriksson Ek

This display was enough for the fans to pick up their phones and wish that the veteran was out of Vancouver. One fan tweeted, “With 12 minutes in penalties today, Evander Kane surpasses Nick Kypreos and Jamie Macoun into 270th all-time in penalty minutes with 1,212.”

However, while one fan pointed out this dubious record, another fan questioned why the forward even remains in the lineup. “Why is Evander Kane on my team???” they posted.

Meanwhile, another fan wrote, “Evander Kane doing things to make sure Canucks lose lol smh,” as he believes that Kane was responsible for yesterday’s loss. The forward was brought to the lineup by GM Patrick Allvin to bolster the team’s grit and bring some secondary scoring capabilities.

Kane, with 10 seasons with 20 or more goals, seemed like a perfect fit. However, across 13 games so far, he has yet to score a single goal. With five assists, he stands with 31 shots taken with none going inside the net.
Some fans even called him a fake tough guy after he came onto Foligno after he separated the veteran from teammate Joel Eriksson. Another fan mirrored this feeling as they posted, “Sums up Kane’s career; the guy never stands up for his cheap shots.”

While Kane’s antics might not have helped the Canucks, he remained one of the most impactful players for his team in the absence of captain Quinn Hughes. But if the Canucks want to stay in the playoff race, they need to figure out a winning formula soon, because the losses keep coming.
