NFL Week 3 Underdog Pick’ems for Thursday Night Football include George Pickens and Amari Cooper

Thursday Night Football is your first chance to get in on some fantasy football action. Here are my top Underdog Pick'ems for TNF.

Fantasy football is more than just the weekly head-to-head game we’ve all grown to love. On Underdog Fantasy, managers can put their player-projection skills to the test by predicting player stat lines. Here are my top Underdog Pick’em plays for the Thursday Night Football Pick’em contest.

Top Underdog Pick’ems for Thursday Night Football

Underdog Pick’ems allows fantasy managers to predict stat lines and fantasy point totals for almost all fantasy-relevant players. You can make two picks that pay out 3x your entry fee or add more selections to your entry for higher payouts. The levels are 3x, 6x, 10x, and 20x, progressing with each additional pick’em you add to your entry. Let’s take a look at this week’s Underdog Pick’ems.

George Pickens higher than 2.5 receptions

Although George Pickens is firmly behind Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool in the target hierarchy, he’s on the field just as much. The Steelers primary run 11 personnel. Pickens has a 78% snap share on the season and is running a route on 90% of his snaps. The problem is he’s not being targeted. Pickens has caught just one ball in each of his first two games. I think that changes this week against a much softer opponent in the Browns.

The Browns are allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers. They’ve been shredded by Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis, and Robbie Anderson. Pickens only needs three grabs here. I think he gets it.

Jacoby Brissett lower than 27 pass attempts

Jacoby Brissett attempted 34 passes in Week 1. However, six of them came in the final minute or so of the game with the Browns furiously marching down the field to set up Cade York’s game-winning 58-yard field goal.

In Week 2, with the Browns leading for pretty much the entire game until they blew it at the end, Brissett attempted just 27 passes.

The Steelers and Browns are projected to be the lowest scoring game of Week 3. The Browns are also projected to win at home. They should do their best to control this game on the ground with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. I don’t foresee them falling behind by multiple scores and being forced to play catch-up. As a result, I think Brissett has fewer than 27 pass attempts.

Amari Cooper lower than 52.5 receiving yards

Amari Cooper is still very good at football. He’s also still limited by his quarterback. In Week 1, Cooper caught just three of six targets for 17 yards. In Week 2, he caught nine of ten targets for 101 yards. Based on the first two games, this one could go either way.

The Steelers have struggled to defend the pass the first two weeks. But even so, Cooper’s receiving yards projection feels a bit high. The Browns are the weakest passing offense they’ve faced, and this is a Thursday night game on a short week. I expect a run-heavy game plan for the Browns that will inevitably limit Cooper’s opportunities, keeping him below 52.5 receiving yards.
