The Ravens cemented their spot atop the 2019 NFL Week 14 power rankings, thanks to a last-minute kick from one of the best to ever do it, Justin Tucker. The NFC West also saw a shakeup in the standings based on that same. Let’s see how the teams are stacking up with four weeks left.
1. Baltimore Ravens (10-2, Last Week: 1)
Week 13 Result: Defeated San Francisco, 20-17
The Ravens showed they can beat you by both scoring a lot of points and by beating you down on defense. The latter helped Baltimore beat San Francisco and solidify their spot atop our rankings. It didn’t hurt that Lamar Jackson scored through the air and on the ground in this one. They also moved up to the number one seed in the AFC with New England’s loss to Houston, furthering the case of the Ravens as a Super Bowl contender.
2. Seattle Seahawks (10-2, Last Week: 4)
Week 13 Result: Defeated Minnesota, 37-30
In a wild Monday Night Football showdown and potential playoff preview, the Seahawks won a high-scoring thriller against the Vikings, and have now taken over first place in the NFC West. Russell Wilson just keeps being Russell Wilson and we are grateful for that. Oh, and no one does touchdown celebrations better than this team.
3. San Francisco 49ers (10-2, Last Week: 2)
Week 13 Result: Lost to Baltimore, 20-17
Despite the loss, the 49ers fought tough and just ran into the buzzsaw that is Lamar Jackson. Unfortunately for the 49ers, they’ve lost control of the NFC West race. The 49ers sit at 1-1 through two games of their brutal three-game stretch that ends next week in New Orleans, in a game that could decide home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs.
4. New Orleans Saints (10-2, Last Week: 3)
Week 13 Result: Defeated Atlanta, 26-18
The Saints became the first team to officially punch their ticket to the playoffs by wrapping up the NFC South on Thanksgiving with their win over the Falcons. It’s another notch under Sean Payton’s belt and the Saints’ fantastic season. Now they set their sights on the top seed in the NFC with the 49ers coming to town in Week 14.
5. New England Patriots (10-2, Last Week: 5)
Week 13 Result: Lost to Houston, 28-22
The Patriots lost against the Texans as their offensive struggles continued. They also lost control of the top seed in the AFC to the Ravens with four weeks left. It wasn’t an embarrassing loss by any means, but it’s one that could come back to haunt the Patriots down the line.
6. Green Bay Packers (9-3, Last Week: 7)
Week 13 Result: Defeated New York Giants, 31-13
The Giants are certainly a strong “get-right” game for any team and that’s what happened for the Packers, as their offense got back on track easily in the Meadowlands, despite the snow.
7. Kansas City Chiefs (8-4, Last Week: 8)
Week 13 Result: Defeated Oakland, 40-9
Now that was impressive. Kansas City rocked Oakland in the national spotlight and is closing in on yet another AFC West division title. Patrick Mahomes may not win MVP again this season, but he’s certainly got the Chiefs back on the right path after a near mishap and nearly losing the division lead before their bye.
8. Houston Texans (8-4, Last Week: 9)
Week 13 Result: Defeated New England, 28-22
Deshaun Watson threw three touchdowns and the Texans came away from Sunday Night Football with a huge win over the Patriots to stay ahead of the Titans in the AFC South and stay as the third seed in the AFC standings.
