With just a few days until the 2021 NFL trade deadline, what are the latest rumors, and which players could be moved before Tuesday?

With the 2021 trade deadline looming large on Tuesday, what are the latest NFL trade rumors as the NFL takes the field on Sunday? Which players could be on the move this week, and which news is more likely just a smokescreen?

Update: For the most recent NFL trade rumors, check out our up-to-date storylines and information.

NFL Trade Rumors | Biggest Sunday storylines

As with every trade deadline, there are plenty of rumors floating around the NFL. However, rarely do we see wholesale changes at the deadline. Therefore, which storylines are the ones that should really command your attention Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday?

A Deshaun Watson trade appears to hang in the balance

The saga surrounding Deshaun Watson’s potential trade has been dragging on since January this year. In the last 10 days, we have seen plenty of rumors emerge, but as of yet, no move has been completed.

And odds are one will not come at all ahead of Tuesday. ESPN reported Sunday that the Texans are prepared to hang onto Watson past the deadline if no team meets their asking price. While owner Cal McNair has indicated that he wants to move on from Watson by Tuesday, he is deferring to GM Nick Caserio, who is reportedly unwilling budge on compensation.

The Dolphins have long been and continue to be the favorites to land Watson — mostly because that’s where he wants to play and he has been unwilling to waive his no-trade clause for anyone else — but Watson’s uncertain legal status has complicated matters. Our sense, based on discussions with league sources familiar with the organization’s thinking, is that a deal is not imminent. That’s not to say one couldn’t come together in the next two days, but short of Watson settling with all 22 accusers, it’s hard to see how.

The Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, and Carolina Panthers were all rumored to be interested. Yet, all three now appear to be out of the picture. It is hard to see another team stepping out of the shadows in the next 48 hours.

Brandin Cooks is expected to be heading out of Houston this week

Cooks seemed like a top candidate to be traded ahead of the deadline. However, Sunday morning, Ian Rapoport reported that the Texans are not actively looking to move Cooks, and would like to build around him.

While no firm trade rumors have emerged leading into Week 8, a number of NFL teams appear to have their eye on Cooks. Any contenders in 2021 could add a very talented receiver for less than $3 million in salary cap space. There is little risk in acquiring Cooks, and a robust market should develop. The question is whether the Texans will be willing to make a deal.

DeSean Jackson and the Rams are seeking a trade

Sean McVay revealed on Friday that DeSean Jackson will not take the field in Week 8, as he and the team have mutually agreed to seek a trade. Jackson has continued to prove in 2021 that he can be a dangerous deep threat who could be an intriguing piece for several offenses. Jackson’s potential landing spots are wide-ranging, but will any be willing to assure him a greater role than the Rams are offering?

What other rumors are we hearing ahead of the 2021 NFL trade deadline?

Andy Isabella could be on the move. However, with limited playing time since arriving in Arizona, how robust that market will be is hard to judge. Arizona reportedly will not be giving Isabella away as they look to recoup some of the value they spent when selecting Isabella in the second round.

With the Broncos’ season slipping away, could Melvin Gordon be on the move out of Denver? Gordon is in the final year of his contract and has been splitting time with rookie RB Javonte Williams. With RB injuries being a regular occurrence, we could even see a market emerge today.

Melvin Ingram is reportedly unhappy in Pittsburgh and seeking a move out of the Steel City. Ingram has a very affordable contract and could be an intriguing situational pass rusher for any contender this season.

NFL trade rumors | Which teams could be sellers in the next couple of days?

There could be a number of teams set to move players in the next few days as seasons slowly slip away. While cap space around the league could limit big moves, some of these teams may be willing to take on salary if it means getting substantial draft capital in return. Let’s take a look at which teams could be involved in trading away players and who those players might be.

  • Atlanta Falcons: TE Hayden Hurst, OL Chris Lindstrom
  • Chicago Bears: DL Khalil Mack, WR Allen Robinson, QB Nick Foles, QB Andy Dalton
  • Denver Broncos: CB Kyle Fuller, DB Kareem Jackson, DL Shelby Harris
  • Jacksonville Jaguars: OL Andrew Norwell, LB Myles Jack
  • New York Giants: TE Evan Engram, DL Austin Johnson, WR Darius Slayton
  • Philadelphia Eagles: DE Derek Barnett, DL Fletcher Cox, LB Alex Singleton
