After starting the season with injury reports listing few to no players, the past two weeks have been quite the opposite. Entering Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, the New Orleans Saints have an extensive list of injured players.
The New Orleans Saints Injury Report
With official game designations now in place, the Saints could have up to six players ruled out for Sunday’s game. As of now, OT Taliese Fuaga is the only player officially out, but RB Alvin Kamara, TE Jack Stoll, OT Barry Wesley, EDGE Jonah Williams, and DT Bryan Bresee are all listed as questionable.

TE Taysom Hil, EDGE Cam Jordan, and DT Davon Godchaux are all missing game status, which means they should be good to play on Sunday. Still, a list of injuries this big could be game-changing for Sunday.
Players Who Would Step Up If More Are Ruled Out
Starting with the already ruled out player, T Asim Richards is set to begin in place of Fuaga on Sunday. The offensive line is already a weakness for the Saints, but it could worsen significantly with Fuaga out. Richards is a good backup and should stand firm, but that side of the O-line is going to be something to watch against the Panthers.
For the rest of the players listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, two starters are a part of the group: Kamara and Bresee. For Kamara, the good news is the Saints do have a potential long-term answer sitting behind waiting for his time to shine. RB Devin Neal has yet to have his role increased this season, and if Kamara is out, this is finally his opportunity to make it happen. In reality, it should happen even if Kamara plays.
Although the star RB still has not been ruled out and, as of now, is questionable, it may be smarter for the Saints to keep him out of this game because New Orleans also has a bye week next week. This would allow Kamara to get the rest he may need and bounce back much stronger.
Regarding Bresee, it’s a much scarier situation. The Saints lack the depth needed behind Bresee. Per PFSN’s DT Impact metric, the second-best DT on the Saints roster is Nathan Shepherd, and he is ranked 79th amongst all DTs. This could be a massive issue come Sunday if Bresee gets ruled out.
