With the New Orleans Saints on their bye week, the coaching staff is evaluating players, so some roster moves could be made. This would primarily involve younger players coming in to replace veterans, which could reveal some positions where the Saints need improvement. Most of the focus is on the 2026 NFL Draft for potential replacements, but the next free agency is another way the Saints can make it happen.
Here are three free agents the Saints should target to improve the roster this offseason.
RB Tyler Allgeier
Starting with the offensive side of the ball, the Saints need to improve their running game. RB Alvin Kamara should still be in New Orleans, but could retire at any point. Kendre Miller would be coming off a torn ACL, and rookie Devin Neal has shown some positive signs. There is some uncertainty with this group, and bringing in a veteran could be a great idea to help the Saints’ offense find some consistency.
There is a good amount of RB options in 2026 Free Agency, but one that jumps out is Tyler Allgeier. The 25-year-old RB is currently sitting behind Bijan Robinson on the Atlanta Falcons, and whenever he comes in, he makes plays. He plays with excellent strength and picks up difficult yards, which is something the Saints need more of.

G Isaac Seumalo
Perhaps a more significant need, New Orleans could be searching for two new starting guards this offseason. This would only happen if the Saints move on from Cesar Ruiz. Regardless, LG will need a new starter, and Isaac Seumalo could be that answer.

This season, Seumalo has been dealing with injuries, but when he has started, he has been great. At LG, the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman has zero penalties on the season and does not let up much pressure.

K Daniel Carlson
Last, but certainly not least, is the kicker position. This season, Saints starting kicker Blake Grupe has been inconsistent, and while kickers around the league are now hitting 50+ yard field goals with ease, this is not the case with Grupe. The Saints need an upgrade in this position to start winning more games. Looking at the available players, Daniel Carlson would be the top choice.
