Justin Jefferson said the Vikings’ locker room has found its edge again after last week’s win over the Lions. With quarterback J.J. McCarthy embracing a “savage” alter ego and the team regaining health and confidence, Minnesota’s top playmaker believes the group is ready for another statement performance against the Baltimore Ravens.
Vikings Star Justin Jefferson Says J.J. McCarthy’s Dog Mentality Is Fueling the Team’s Confidence
Jefferson described how the energy inside the building shifted after the win in Detroit, crediting the captains for setting the tone and teammates for executing with purpose.
“It can help us a lot, especially with our confidence,” Jefferson said. “We haven’t beat them since 2021 in their house. Having that in the back of our heads and seeing guys healthy again gives us momentum. It feels great to come in and see smiling faces in this building. We just have to keep stacking days and keep going to work.”

As one of the game’s best players, defenses shift to Jefferson nearly every snap. His presence alone helps make reads for McCarthy simpler, allowing one-on-one opportunities for fellow receiver Jordan Addison and Jalen Nalior. Jefferson ranks 13th in PFSN’s WRi.
He praised the Vikings for playing with balance and composure, rather than relying on late rallies.
“The energy was there, the execution was there, and guys just made plays,” Jefferson said. “No one tried to do too much. We just played our ball.”
Jefferson also spoke about McCarthy’s mindset, comparing his quarterback’s “Nine” persona to his own “Jets” mode.
“I like it personally,” he said. “He understands he has to turn on another switch when he gets in the game. It’s just like me. When I step on the field, it’s a whole different mode. We don’t need any more nice guys out there. We need dogs who will scrap through anything. He has that mentality and knows he has to turn it on when he steps on that field.”

The veteran receiver also acknowledged the growing chemistry across the offense and his excitement to face Baltimore’s defense.
“They’re a great team all around,” Jefferson said. “I’m confident in myself to perform like I always do. The game plan we have this week feels strong, and I’m excited for it. It’s a great opportunity to get another win.”
Jefferson’s message was clear. The Vikings have rediscovered their swagger, and now they want to prove it against one of the AFC’s toughest opponents.
