Jaguars Injury Report Week 9: Latest Updates on Devin Lloyd, Brian Thomas Jr.

Jacksonville Jaguars (4–3) at Las Vegas Raiders (2-5); Sunday, 4:05 p.m. EST

The Jaguars exit their bye week with more injuries than they entered it with, especially at wide receiver, creating one of their most impactful injury reports of the season. Here are the latest updates on every player heading into Sunday’s crucial matchup as the Jaguars look to end their two-game losing streak.

    WR/CB Travis Hunter

    (Knee)

Hunter, who ranks 61 in PFSN’s WRi, was placed on IR on Oct. 31 following a non-contact knee injury and will miss at least four games. His loss is substantial to the team as he was expected to be the primary target for the Jaguars this week.

    S Eric Murray

    (Neck)

Murray also hit IR on Oct. 31, leaving the Jaguars without a veteran safety for 4 weeks at minimum. Expect Antonio Johnson to take over as the starting safety opposite of Andrew Wingard this week.

    WR Tim Patrick

    (Groin)

Declared out on Oct. 31, Patrick’s injury further depletes a receiver room already hit hard by the Travis Hunter loss. After losing both Hunter and Patrick, the Jaguars elevated WRs Austin Trammell and Tim Jones to the 53-man roster.

    TE Quintin Morris

    (Groin)

Morris was ruled out on Oct. 31 as well, tightening the team’s depth at tight end. With the team still missing Brenton Strange, who was placed on IR following the Jaguars’ Week 5 win against the Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville is left with just Hunter Long and Johnny Mundt at TE this week.

    WR Brian Thomas Jr.

    (Shoulder)

Thomas started the week in a no-contact jersey but ramped up gradually and is cleared to play. His availability is crucial with Jacksonville down multiple receivers. Thomas will serve as the offense’s primary receiving weapon as he looks to bounce back coming off the bye week. He will undoubtedly need to step up with all the injuries around him, and the team is hopeful that he will, with head coach Liam Coen stating that he “truly practiced the best I’ve seen him practice this week.”

    WR Dyami Brown

    (Shoulder)

Brown followed a similar progression, beginning the week in a no-contact jersey before increasing his workload. He is active, and his return is just as crucial for a receiving corps stretched thin by multiple injuries. Thomas Jr. will be the primary weapon, but Brown and Parker Washington will need to step up as crucial pieces for the offense this week as well.

    CB Jourdan Lewis

    (Neck)

Lewis was lightly practiced all week but is good to go. As Jacksonville’s starting inside corner and a team captain, having him available is significant for a defense already navigating multiple changes in the secondary.

    LB Devin Lloyd

    (Calf)

Lloyd was limited all week and will probably be a game-time decision as he is the only player still listed as questionable. His impact cannot be understated, as he has arguably been the best linebacker in the league this season. The Jaguars lost both games Lloyd missed significant time in, as he got injured early against Seattle and didn’t play against Los Angeles.

It appears the Jaguars are preparing for Lloyd to be inactive, though, as Jacksonville elevated Branson Combs to the 53-man roster.

    LB Dennis Gardeck

    (Chest)

Gardeck was limited throughout the week but will play. His presence becomes even more critical if Lloyd is unavailable, as Gardeck and LB Ventrell Miller would be expected to take on significant snaps in his place.
