The NFL Trade Deadline is hours away. The Denver Broncos are 7-2 and are buyers. A CBS Sports article reports that the Broncos are creating fireworks with a pass catcher acquisition.
Sean Payton Keeps Broncos Grounded as Denver Eyes a Playoff-Boosting at NFL Trade Deadline
When asked about making a trade in his Oct. 3 press conference, Sean Payton teased, “We’ll see.” Denver is already the No. 3 seed in the AFC Conference, so a trade may be the extra boost needed for a deep playoff run.
The Super Bowl-winning head coach went deeper later in the press conference, “We would never make a trade to send a message to the team. Everyone in the locker room, our players, coaches, management, (and) front office knows that we’re all in to win. The trade would take place — this supposed trade — if we found value in something that could help us. Period. That’s it. We’re not looking to send a message.”
Reading the tea leaves, the Broncos may pounce on one of the following: Jaylen Waddle, Chris Olave, or Jalin Hyatt. All three receivers are also mentioned in the piece as potential trade options for their respective teams.
Another pass catcher the Broncos could target is Calvin Ridley, although Jones wrote, “I don’t see Tennessee dealing Calvin Ridley, either. They don’t want to make things tougher for top overall pick Cam Ward.”
Denver’s offense is No. 15 in PFSN’s Offense Impact Score, while the offense is No. 1 in PSFN’s Defense Impact Score. It’s a fine line to tow for Payton and general manager George Paton. The Broncos are ahead of schedule in Year 2 of Bo Nix and a rebuild, but the offense is not keeping up with the defense.

Good thing the Broncos are going to make a trade if they find value, right? Despite the four fourth-quarter comebacks, it feels like the Broncos are missing something in their offense.
The Broncos take on the Las Vegas Raiders under the prime-time lights of Thursday Night Football in Week 10.
