The Denver Broncos took care of business against the Houston Texans in Week 9. The score settled at 18-15. The win kept Denver atop the AFC West heading into Week 10. In fact, the Broncos are currently the No. 3 seed in the AFC Conference. If the playoffs started today, Denver would face off against its division rival, the Los Angeles Chargers. But they don’t. For now, though, let’s see the implications of the Broncos’ win.
The Broncos Pick Up a Game on the No. 1 Seed
With the Indianapolis Colts losing in Week 9, and Bo Nix completing his fourth game-winning drive of the season, the Broncos picked up a game on the No. 1 seed in the conference. For now, however, the Broncos remain the No. 3 seed.
A three-way tie at the top of the conference may come into play if it holds later in the season, based on divisional matchups, records, and conference win percentage. For now, it’s a tidbit to stick in the back pocket.
That said, PFSN’s Free NFL Playoff Predictor still has the Broncos as the eventual seventh seed when the playoffs roll around. Coincidentally, that would lead to a third matchup between the Broncos and division rival, the Chargers.
The Colts, however, would still be the No. 1 seed and have a bye. Elsewhere in the AFC, the other playoff matchups would be the Buffalo Bills vs. the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the New England Patriots.
The Broncos face off against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 10 on a short week on “Thursday Night Football.” We are officially at the midway point of the season, as there are nine weeks left. After the Raiders, the Broncos face off against the Chiefs in Week 11, have a bye in Week 12, and then face the Washington Commanders.

Hopefully for the Broncos, Pat Surtain II is back sooner rather than later. He avoided injured reserve, which is an indication that he can beat the original 4-6 week timetable on his injury.
