Bo Nix totaled his fourth come-from-behind win in Week 9, but his passer rating through nine games is 88.5. That’s right at the Mendoza line. Evaluating Nix is puzzling because he totals a 17:6 TD-INT ratio on a 5.3% TD Rate as well. That’s almost a 3:1 TD-INT ratio, which is elite. All told, Nix accounts for 20 total touchdowns as well. There are fleeting images of a franchise quarterback. Here’s what one analyst from the league’s official website thinks.
Bo Nix Needs Consistency
NFL.com columnist Jeffri Chadiha published his weekly in-season column, The First Read, on Monday. In it, he wrote about 10 people who will shape the second half of the 2025 season. Ranked No. 3 on Chadiha’s list is Nix. After back-to-back four-touchdown games, Nix came back down to earth.
In Week 9, he totaled a 48.6% completion percentage, two touchdowns, an interception, 4.7 yards per attempt, and a 68.9 passer rating. Nix rushed three times for 36 yards and had a clutch 25-yard run with less than a minute left as well. In his column, Chadiha pointed out Nix’s inconsistency.
“Nix posted underwhelming numbers — 18-for-37 for 173 yards with two touchdowns and an interception – but he made the plays when they mattered most. The Broncos had three straight drives end in punts until their final possession, when two Nix runs resulted in 34 yards and helped set up the game-winning field goal by Wil Lutz. Denver needs Nix to be just as clutch and a little more consistent over the next several weeks to break Kansas City’s nine-year hold on the AFC West crown,” Chadiha wrote.
The sequence Chadiha outlines is a microcosm of Nix’s inconsistency. That said, if Nix is just a little more consistent, it could yield big gains for the Broncos. Already 7-2 and on a six-game win streak, the Broncos play the Las Vegas Raiders on a short week in Week 10. After a mini bye, the Broncos play the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11, then have their real bye in Week 12.
Nix is No. 14 in PFSN’s QB Impact Score. It’s a symbol of how close he is to greatness. Nix displays clutchness, so he just needs consistency. Nix is No. 17 in passing yards per game as well.
Hopefully for the Broncos, Pat Surtain II is back by Week 13 vs. the Washington Commanders at the latest, although Jayden Daniels is out indefinitely. Read the key takeaways from the Broncos-Texans game in Week 9 here.
