Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is No. 17 in PFSN’s QB Impact Score. That said, Denver is 8-2, atop the AFC West, and the No. 2 seed in the AFC Conference. It’s a peculiar juxtaposition for the Broncos, as their defense ranks No. 1 in PFSN’s Defense Impact Score. On Wednesday, Nix talked to the media. He addressed a slew of topics, including what he is seeing from inside the pocket.
Bo Nix on His Opportunities Inside the Pocket
He said, “Well I think it’s the toughest part of my job to be honest with you because moving around, running, it can be a pain for the defense. But at the same time, if you leave when something’s open or if you don’t leave when you had it and you could have run for something and instead you try to throw it and force it. That’s the toughest part of our job. You could evaluate, you go back and look, but you never see the same play twice.”
Nix is coming off consecutive sub-70 passer rating games heading into Week 11. Looks like he is attempting to reset before a matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs this week. The first time Nix played the Chiefs, he was lights out. Nix’s stats are below.
22 of 30 for a 73.3 completion percentage, 215 yards, two touchdowns, 7.2 yards per attempt, and a 115.3 passer rating. He totaled three carries for 33 yards as well.
Nix continued talking about his opportunities in the pocket, saying, “You’re always going to have a different pocket, different route, different scheme, different defense. At the end of the day, you’re just making battleship decisions out there and it’s going to be quick reactionary decisions and sometimes you just have to rely on your reaction and trust it.”
Relying on his reaction is why Nix has totaled four come-from-behind wins this season. In addition, he has four three-plus touchdown games as well. Up next is the Chiefs in a critical game for AFC West seeding purposes. A Broncos win in Week 11 puts the Chiefs’ odds to win the division at just 3%. And the Chiefs’ playoff odds would sit at 46.4%.
