The Carolina Panthers didn’t just walk away with a loss in their Week 10 clash with the New Orleans Saints, during which several players appeared to be pushing through pain as the game unfolded.
Wednesday’s initial practice report provided a few key insights as the Panthers prepared for Week 11.
Several Carolina Panthers Miss Practice Ahead of Week 11
The most significant news involved starting linebacker Trevin Wallace (shoulder). Wallace sustained the injury in the second half and did not return to the game.
Panthers coach Dave Canales said Wednesday about Wallace’s status, “Trevin [Wallace] will be week-to-week, really, right now. The shoulder’s aggravated. He’s been dealing with some things, as you’ve all seen.”
Canales added, “We put all of our brains together and really saw an opportunity to just try and get him on top of this. Get out in front of it, get him back to his full confidence and strength and mobility, and all that.”
Wallace, who has a 62.4 score per PFSN’s LBi Metric, will not play in Week 11’s road game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Rookie safety Lathan Ransom and running back Rico Dowdle were the other two players who did not participate in the first session of the week.
Ransom (hand) also suffered an injury during the Week 10 game and, as Canales noted, “had a little bit of a surgical procedure to clean some stuff out.”
The surgery was performed on Tuesday. Canales added, “It doesn’t sound like a long-term situation. We’ll track him [Ransom] day-to-day. See if we can get him out there in some capacity tomorrow.”
Dowdle, who had been dominant over the past month, was “just dealing with the quad,” Canales said. He began last week’s practice in the same condition. Like last week, the plan is for Dowdle to return to practice on Wednesday.
Defensive lineman Derrick Brown (knee) was limited. Wide receiver and special teams contributor Brycen Tremayne and guard Chandler Zavala fully participated after being inactive for Sunday’s game.
