The Carolina Panthers’ initial injury report for Week 11 saw running back Rico Dowdle (quadriceps) sitting out for the second consecutive Wednesday practice. Dowdle was joined by linebacker Trevin Wallace (shoulder) and safety Lathan Ransom (hand) as non-participants.
Any uptick in participation could shed some positive light on the status of the trio for Sunday’s Week 11 game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Carolina Panthers Thursday Injury Report Updates, Including Dowdle’s Status
The good news first: Dowdle returned to the practice field on Thursday for the Panthers. Officially listed as a limited participant, Dowdle appears to be on the same track that led him to active status in Week 10 against the Saints.
Dowdle saw his recent rash of run success stifled by the New Orleans defense in Week 10, accumulating only 53 yards on 18 carries. Dowdle is the No. 3-ranked running back in PFSN’s Running Back Impact Rating with an 86.2 RBi score.
The same encouraging outlook doesn’t hold for either Wallace or Ransom.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales said yesterday that they’d look at Ransom as “day-to-day” and would see if they could “get him out there in some capacity,” but he was once again held out of today’s practice.
Wallace wasn’t expected to be back, as he’s been referred to as week-to-week. Canales told reporters yesterday that he didn’t anticipate having the second-year linebacker for Week 11.
Derrick Brown (knee) fully participated on Thursday, after being limited on Wednesday as well.
Regarding Brown’s knee and if the injury was to the same knee he had surgery on last season, Canales told reporters on Wednesday, “It’s on that side, not related. This is just something that came up.”
Brown is coming off a season-high nine-tackle performance against the Saints in Week 10. He has started every game this season and is one of the main factors in the Panthers’ defensive resurgence from their historically poor 2024 body of work, especially against the run, as they surrendered a league-high 179.8 rushing yards per game.
Brown is PFSN’s DTi No. 37-ranked interior defensive lineman, with a 76.4 grade.

Canales also mentioned that he expected Brown to be ready to practice today, and that turned out to be accurate.
Brycen Tremayne (hip) and Chandler Zavala (elbow) are the only other names on the full injury report, and with their level of participation Thursday, they have both been able to log consecutive full sessions.
