We are entering Week 6 of NFL survivor pools, and unless you have been playing it tactically, obvious choices could be starting to run out. That is exacerbated by the loss of four teams to a bye this week. Bye weeks are a problem that will now continue to limit choices through Week 14. With that in mind, let’s take a look at which games could be options for your NFL survivor pool this week and which could be potential traps.
NFL Survivor Pool | Week 6
Which games are potential survivor pool selections for Week 6?
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at Philadelphia Eagles)
If you haven’t already taken the Buccaneers this season, here is another opportunity. Using Tampa Bay on Thursday Night Football against an Eagles team that has been less than convincing could leave you with a very relaxing weekend.
The Buccaneers rank third in the league in points scored and yards gained. They have swept aside the likes of the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins. The games they have struggled in were either against potential NFC playoff teams or the emotional Sunday Night Football matchup with New England.
Favorites are 5-0 straight up on Thursday Night Football in 2021. That should not change this week.
Los Angeles Rams (at New York Giants)
The Rams have had a tough few weeks, and there have been limited opportunities to use them in your NFL survivor pool. Well, the opportunities will not get much better than this weekend against the Giants. New York has been absolutely decimated by injuries and is without several key players.
Even if Daniel Jones clears concussion protocol, he is facing the prospect of taking on a Rams defense without a number of his top weapons. Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton have missed the last two weeks. Saquon Barkley and Kenny Golladay both got hurt last week.
Even at full strength, this would be a tough ask for the Giants. But it’s hard to see how they beat the Rams while essentially deploying their second-string offense. Even home-field advantage likely won’t be enough to make the difference.
Other potential NFL survivor pool selections this week:
- Indianapolis Colts (vs. Houston Texans)
- Cincinnati Bengals (@ Detroit Lions – assuming Joe Burrow is active)
Week 6 NFL survivor pool potential trap games
Which games are tempting to select for your survivor pool in Week 6 but could end up as traps?
Green Bay Packers (at Chicago Bears)
The Packers may have won 9 of their last 10 meetings against the Bears, but the way this season has gone for Green Bay and Chicago, there is reason to be cautious. The Packers were unconvincing in beating the Cincinnati Bengals. Meanwhile, the Bears capitalized on the chaos with Jon Gruden in Las Vegas this past week to pick up a crucial road win.
Chicago always plays opponents tough, especially in Soldier Field. There will be better weeks to use the Packers in your NFL survivor pool.
Denver Broncos (vs. Las Vegas Raiders)
It has been a pretty tough last 10 days for the Raiders. With all of the drama surrounding Gruden, you can forgive the team for losing focus in Week 5. However, with Gruden now gone, that distraction has been removed — and this game has a feeling of a wounded animal about to bite.
The Raiders are going to be desperate to go out on the field and prove there is more to the franchise than Gruden. Throw in the way the Broncos have struggled in the last couple of weeks, and this game has upset potential in Mile High. If you didn’t use the Broncos in your NFL survivor pool in the first three weeks, you may have missed a golden opportunity.
