With the 2025 NFL Draft edging closer, the future of this year’s quarterback class is still full of questions. One of the most talked-about names is Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, a dual-threat talent who continues to divide opinion among scouts.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz recently shared that one AFC East scout believes Milroe has the tools to turn his elite traits into a complete NFL game.

AFC East Scout Sees Huge Potential in Jalen Milroe
In a recent article breaking down some of the most debated prospects, Schultz revealed an unnamed scout’s thoughts on Milroe. The scout believes the Alabama quarterback has clear pro-level talent and is worth the risk.
“He’s got a super-strong arm, even by NFL standards,” the scout said. He also noted that Milroe’s upside will appeal to any team that sees his long-term value. “He’s one of those guys — if you see it, you go get him.”
Still, the scout said Milroe wasn’t ready to start right away.
“He might not start Day 1, but in this quarterback class, his ceiling is too high to ignore.”
Scout Points Out Areas for Milroe to Improve
Milroe has serious tools, but he’s still raw. The same scout said Milroe needs to sharpen his football IQ and decision-making.
“Good touch on the long ball. He just needs more reps and time to refine his layering … see more defenses, watch more tape. Think more football in general. That’ll come.”
His athleticism is no secret, but turnovers remain a concern. Milroe threw 11 interceptions in 2024, nearly double his total from the year before.
Even so, his big-play ability jumps off the stat sheet. Milroe ran for 20 touchdowns and threw for 16 more in his senior season. At his Pro Day, he ran a 4.40-second 40-yard dash — faster than top receiver prospect Luther Burden III and running back TreVeyon Henderson.
Where Could Milroe Land?
Milroe is likely to be picked on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft. As a projected backup, he has more flexibility than some of the top-tier quarterbacks. Teams to watch include the New York Jets, New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, and New Orleans Saints — all with starters in place for now but questions beyond 2025.
The Pittsburgh Steelers could also be in the mix. They would’ve had a second-round shot at Milroe but traded that pick to the Seattle Seahawks for wide receiver DK Metcalf. Pittsburgh still holds a late third-round pick and could move up if Milroe is still on the board and the team passes on a QB in Round 1.
Like many prospects in this class, Milroe’s draft-day fate will stay uncertain until his name is finally called in Green Bay.
