NFL Week 10 will be in the books after Monday night, and it feels like we’ve learned a ton about every team. There are the contenders, the pretenders, and then a few teams that seem to be stuck in the middle. One of the teams that appears to be in the middle is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who fell to 5-4 after dropping a game against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10.
It was hard to know what to expect from the Steelers entering this season. The team underwent significant changes this offseason, including the addition of veterans such as Aaron Rodgers, D.K. Metcalf, Jonnu Smith and Jalen Ramsey. Now, after the team’s latest loss, Fox Sports host Colin Cowherd has declared the Steelers the only “unsolvable” team in the league.
Colin Cowherd Thinks the Steelers Are Too Old in 2025
We knew going into this season that the Steelers had an aging roster. To begin the season, only the Washington Commanders had an older average age on their roster.
It was also a gamble to rely on Rodgers at the game’s most crucial position. Rodgers is 41 years old and suffered a devastating injury just two seasons ago. The quarterback also failed to look like his vintage self in 2024 with the New York Jets.
After winning four of their first five games in 2025, though, it seemed like the plan would work. The team is just 1-3 since that point, however, and Cowherd thinks age is to blame.
“Week to week, I have no idea what I’m getting,” Cowherd declared on “The Herd.” “I know Aaron (Rodgers) looked old and like he didn’t want to get hit last night, but some of it is, I don’t blame him.”
Notably, Rodgers took three sacks against the Chargers in Week 10 and only completed 16 of his 31 pass attempts for 161 yards. The quarterback also threw two interceptions and fumbled once, but was able to recover it.
“You have no idea what you’re getting half-to-half and week-to-week,” said Cowherd. “They’re the only team in the league to me that’s completely unsolvable. They’re the second-oldest team in the league, and they’re aging like milk, not wine.”
It’s not just the offense that features older players; the defense is also full of veterans. Several of the team’s top defenders, like Cam Heyward, T.J. Watt, Darius Slay and Chuck Clark, are at least 30 years old.
“Old people, old rosters, fall down the stairs more, get hurt more, and take longer to heal,” Cowherd added.
The Steelers will hope to get back in the win column in Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers already lost to the Bengals once this season, and if they hope to keep pace in the AFC North, they can’t afford to lose another.
