Last term, it’s fair to say that the New England Patriots didn’t cover themselves in glory; their 7-9 season no doubt a reaction to being without NFL legend Tom Brady. However, it appears some supporters believe Robert Kraft’s franchise will perform something of a miraculous turnaround in form.
2020’s performance, the first time the Patriots had experienced a losing season in 20 years, is one that fans of Bill Belichick’s side will want to forget, and perhaps one sports betting enthusiast knows something the rest of us don’t.
New England Patriots’ odds
The Patriots were, according to most sports betting odds, as long as +3000 (which is around halfway down the pack), but one gambler decided to back the Gillette Stadium side with a $10,000 to win Super Bowl LVI. That bet would, if it came off, lead to an astonishing $300k payout.
It’s worth noting that once the bet had been placed, New England’s odds dropped way down to +2500, and in the hours that followed, we’ve noted that some sportsbooks have taken the Patriots down to as little as +2200.
A Super Bowl win for the Patriot wouldn’t be a complete miracle; Belichick has, after all, guided the team to six previous titles. There is, of course, one major ingredient missing from the New England recipe in 2021. That is a certain Tom Brady.

The loss of Brady
Brady left before last season got underway and he duly used his magic to help the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to victory for their first Super Bowl triumph in 18 years. New England without Brady are quite a different proposition but arguably last season was always going to be the toughest without their talismanic leader.
The Patriots have been very active in fixing their faults with good work in the free agency and the draft, the capture of Mac Jones being potentially particularly key to their potential success this coming season.
When it comes to the favorites in the Super Bowl betting, it’s not surprising to see the Kansas City Chiefs being the front of the pack. Andy Reid’s side has taken part in the last two title match-ups, losing one and winning the other, and they are priced at around +450.
Other Super Bowl contenders
Commonly, Tampa Bay sit second in the betting rankings, and clearly, a lot rests on the veteran shoulders of Tom Brady, who surely still has enough in the tank to bring in an eighth winner’s ring.
Behind these two front-runners, you’ll see, with most sportsbooks, the likes of the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore Ravens, and the Buffalo Bills sitting around +1400.
When it comes to teams moving rapidly in the betting rankings, it’s worth mentioning the shortening of the odds on the Denver Broncos, who’ve moved from around +6800 all the way down to +2000.
Meanwhile, way out at the back of the pack are the Houston Texans, who can get you a massive +25000 on a very unlikely Super Bowl success.
