NFL News and Rumors Today: New York Giants’ GM interviews begin, Bill O’Brien eyes return

NFL news and rumors involving the New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and many more as the head coach and general manager market takes shape.

Day 3 of the NFL offseason is here, and it seems we’ve moved on from the firing stage and reached the hiring stage. While there are some unresolved questions with the Raiders, Texans, and Seahawks, the hiring cycle has taken form. Let’s run down the latest NFL general manager and head coach news and rumors.

NFL News and Rumors

Joe Judge on Tuesday became the seventh NFL head coach fired this cycle, so the New York Giants are one of two teams in search of both a coach and general manager. Here’s a look at the nine teams that either have job openings or lingering questions.

Chicago Bears

The latest: ESPN reported Wednesday that Khan, who was almost the Texans GM last year and could be the Steelers GM this year, is on Chicago’s candidate list. The Bears will meet with Hackett — who is a man in high demand — on Saturday, per NFL Network.

The latest: Nearly 72 hours after his first season as an NFL head coach ended, David Culley still has a job. The further away we get from Week 18, the more likely it seems that Culley will return for Year 2.

The latest: Rich Bisaccia was named interim coach on Oct. 11, and three months later, he now only still has his job, but is preparing the Raiders for a playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Raiders are expected to make a decision on Bisaccia’s future when their postseason ends.

The latest: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is showing no desire to retire. And three days into the offseason, there is no indication that he will be fired, either. Unless something changes soon, expect Carroll back for a 13th season in Seattle.
