After retiring from the NFL in 2022, Tom Brady has continued to play a major role in football-related ventures. The seven-time Super Bowl champion serves as a commentator for Fox Sports and has expanded his involvement through franchise ownership.
In 2024, NFL owners approved Brady’s proposal to become a limited partner with the Las Vegas Raiders. Reports confirmed that the three-time MVP bought a 5% stake in the organization, marking a new chapter in his post-playing career.
This weekend, the franchise and Brady were met with unfortunate news. The team announced that part-owner Carol Davis, wife of the late Al Davis and mother of current owner Mark Davis, passed away.

A statement from the Raiders revealed that Mrs. Davis died on Friday at age 93, with the cause of death not yet disclosed.
After learning of her passing, Brady shared his condolences on social media. The post reflected his sadness and respect for the “First Lady of Raider Nation,” as he reshared the team’s official message with heart and prayer emojis.

According to the organization, a private memorial service for Mrs. Davis will take place in Oakland, California. The Raiders also intend to hold a public event honoring her legacy “at a future date.”
While the Raiders were on a bye week, they paid tribute by lighting the Al Davis Memorial Torch at Allegiant Stadium, led by Carol’s son, Mark.
“Carol provided unbridled support and unparalleled guidance to the Davis family and the Raiders organization for over 60 years,” the team’s statement added.
“Her direct impact on the Greatness of the Raiders continues to be felt, cherished, and honored, and is woven into the fabric of this historic franchise. If Al was the heart of the Raiders, Carol was the soul.”
Carol married Al Davis in 1954 and, after he passed away in 2011, she inherited the team. Carol and Mark both had a controlling interest in the Raiders, but she let her son run the franchise. However, she still made appearances, including at the Raiders’ first game at Allegiant Stadium when she lit the Al Davis Memorial Torch prior to the contest.
