Aaron Rodgers was recently seen throwing footballs with the new Pittsburgh Steelers receiver DK Metcalf, all but confirming the QB’s new home.
However, assuming Rodgers will be sporting the yellow and black this year, one particular NFL insider has recently vented his frustrations such a move.

Pittsburgh Steelers Bet on Aaron Rodgers
According to respected NFL analyst Dan Graziano, the Steelers are making a great error in judgment by waiting for Rodgers to lead their franchise. A post on X by Blitzburgh reads, “Graziano says the Steelers screwed themselves with Aaron Rodgers.”
Graziano says the Steelers screwed themseleves with Aaron Rodgers: “He won five games last year. He’s gonna turn 42 in December. You’re stuck waiting for the guy the Jets cut and you’re the Steelers. You are screwed. This is not going to work. The Steelers are not going to win…

The post then goes on to provide multiple statements by Graziano, who notes regarding Rodgers: “He won five games last year. He’s gonna turn 42 in December. You’re stuck waiting for the guy the Jets cut and you’re the Steelers. You are screwed. This is not going to work. The Steelers are not going to win the Super Bowl. It’s not going to happen.”
It’s tough to say that Graziano is completely out of line since he makes two solid points on Rodgers, who is entering his age-42 season, and yes, was cut by the Jets. However, some might be able to push back by pointing out that, like him or not, you can do a lot worse than Rodgers.
Can Aaron Rodgers Work in Pittsburgh?
As everyone knows, the New York Jets had an abysmal 2024, going 5-12 with Rodgers at the helm.
However, the Jets are an organization ripe with dysfunction, which was on full display last year as they fired their head coach, Robert Saleh, and GM Joe Douglas mid-season. The Steelers organization would certainly be a major difference.
In Pittsburgh, Rodgers would be looking to throw to star wide receivers Metcalf and George Pickens, an already dynamic threat, at least on paper. Furthermore, Rodgers has already spoken highly of head coach Mike Tomlin, and an overall stable franchise is likely a much better fit for the veteran QB.
That said, the Steelers were not necessarily looking for Rodgers to lead the team at the start of the offseason, but according to Steelers Depot, “when [Justin] Fields left in free agency, the Steelers pivoted to Rodgers, who has dragged out the process while he weighs his options, which include retirement.”
Regardless of what any of the analysts have said, though, it’s true that the Steelers seem to be essentially stuck. And unless they feel like handing the keys to Mason Rudolph for the 2025 season, it appears their near-term future hinges on whatever and when Rodgers decides on his next move.
