NFL insider Tom Pelissero has given a positive update on the prolonged Aaron Rodgers saga, suggesting that a resolution could be close. Pelissero did, however, note that the quarterback himself holds the key and could drag things out even longer if he wishes.

Tom Pelissero Believes That a Decision on Aaron Rodgers’ Future Could Be Close
After months of speculation, the end may be in sight as far as Rodgers’ immediate future is concerned. Both the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants have been left waiting on a decision from the quarterback this offseason. With the 2025 NFL Draft edging closer and jobs potentially on the line in 2025, tension is building for both franchises and their respective fanbases.
Appearing on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Pelissero revealed that the legendary Green Bay Packer is believed to be close to deciding on his future. Having spoken to various people, the NFL Network insider stated that many believe the answer could come “in the next few days”. Pelissero also noted that the Steelers appear to have the edge over New York.

“Those two teams have been in it throughout. I would certainly say that the percentages appear to be much better with Pittsburgh.” The insider went on to note that both teams have had regular contact with Rodgers and his representatives, with Rodgers even visiting the Steelers facility.
“My impression, from talking to a lot of people involved, is that people believe this answer is coming in the near term, maybe even within the next few days here.”
More Twists Still Possible as Saga Drags On
Those words could mean that the Pittsburgh has all but won the race for Rodgers, as there has been no news on a meeting with the New York Giants. Pelissero did warn that things could easily change, though, given the capricious nature of the four-time MVP.
“One guy can change that, which is Aaron himself. If he’s not ready to say ‘I’m fully, you know, jumping into the water here,’ then we’re gonna continue to wait.” The analyst finished by suggesting that the leverage may no longer be with the veteran if he continues to keep the two teams waiting.

“The question is, how long are the teams willing to wait? Especially because you’ve got one: resources that could be spent elsewhere if you’re not going to sign Aaron Rodgers. But also, for teams like Pittsburgh, potentially, certainly for the Giants, you’ve also got Russell Wilson, among others, waiting.”
While both the Steelers and the Giants are seemingly committed to Rodgers as long as he remains a free agent, both will need to put other plans into action at some point. “At some point, the teams may decide to bail; that just hasn’t happened yet.”
