The 2025 NFL Draft has ended with cornerback Jalen Ramsey still with the Miami Dolphins. A split between the two seemed inevitable, but if Miami were to trade Ramsey, they would receive 2026 or later draft picks in return. Per the current cap situation, a trade during the draft always seemed unlikely, as Ramsey would trigger a $25.213 million cap charge if he were traded before June 1, making a trade after June 1 more plausible.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport confirmed that the Rams were indeed looking to trade for Ramsey, and would prefer to do so post June 1. He, however, added that a trade before the deadline was possible as well, and suggested an interesting landing spot for the 30-year-old.

Ian Rapoport Predicts Jalen Ramsey To Land With The Los Angeles Rams
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier spoke with reporters after the conclusion of the NFL Draft and kept the door open for a trade between now and June 1.
“We’ve had conversations through the weekend with some teams about it as well, so depending on what happens and if and when it’ll happen. Whatever it is, we’ll make the deal at the appropriate time.”
Rapoport also confirmed that the Dolphins would be open to trade Ramsey before June 1 if a suitable offer arrives, and suggested the Los Angeles Rams as the potential landing spot for him.
“The Rams are an interesting possibility here,” he said on the “Pat McAfee Show”. “I mean Sean McVay has come out and said [they are] still interested in Jalen. He and Jalen still talk, like they are still friends. I know McVay considers him to be one of his favorite players he has had. Like they are not there yet, but I get the sense the conversations have been recent, but that would make a lot of sense as a landing spot for Jalen Ramsey.”

Ramsey spent four seasons in Los Angeles before being traded to the Dolphins in exchange for Hunter Long and a third-round pick in 2023. And McVay might be looking to swoop back in. Speaking to the Rams Wire, he made it clear. “There’s not too much of an update. He is a total stud, and you look at, obviously, he has continued to play at a really high level.”
The Super Bowl-winning offensive genius further confirmed that he had been in touch with Ramsey, but suggested the Rams were hesitant to fully commit due to his high contract-value.
However, Ramsey’s price point is understandable. He has shown moderate consistency ever since his rookie year in the league. Over that timeframe, he’s racked up 24 interceptions and six different seasons of 50+ total tackles.
On a young Rams defense that was fluctuating week to week, his veteran presence could be a stabilizing force and raise their floor, while keeping the ceiling at its current high. Additionally, with most of the defense on the younger side, he could also act as a veteran locker room leader.
