NFL Insider Breaks Silence on Intense Backlash Over ‘Agenda’ Against Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs

NFL insider Adam Schefter cleared the air over the allegations of his agenda against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs after their controversial win.

The Kansas City Chiefs have been a part of five of the last six Super Bowls heading into Super Bowl 59. Their dominance was on full display against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Jan. 26, as they won the 2024 AFC Championship Game.

However, fans are claiming that this dominance is on the backs of favorable calls from the officials. ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter wants to set the record straight over his involvement in this issue.

The Chiefs have been facing the blame for allegedly being favored by the NFL for some time now. However, these claims gained a lot of momentum after their Divisional Round playoff game against the Houston Texans, which was mired with controversial decisions by the refs.

Against the Bills, the defending champions again received calls that heightened the concerns of them receiving help from the refs. Schefter tried to tackle this issue on X (formerly known as Twitter) but was drowned out by the Chiefs’ fans.

On Monday, Jan. 27, he appeared on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” and stated that he did not want to drag the defending champions further into the controversy.

“I would just say this again, the facts are the facts,” he said. “I presented facts. There was zero — let me be very clear about that — zero intent behind that. I’m a little surprised that people are so offended with factual information.”

“There was zero agenda, zero agenda. It was a number, some stats in conjunction with a story that the NFL is considering expanding replay assist to include plays that include quarterback slides. That’s it. Those are the numbers. That’s it. No agenda.”

However, not everyone saw it that way, with several people from Kansas City’s mayor to “Modern Family” star and Chiefs fan Eric Stonestreet pushing back against Schefter’s posts on X.

    Travis Kelce Highlights Mahomes’ Greatness

After the win against the Bills, the 29-year-old Mahomes has racked up 17 postseason career wins. He is the QB with the second-most postseason wins behind only Tom Brady’s 35 wins. Tight end Travis Kelce couldn’t help but applaud his QB for another successful playoff run.

“Whatever he’s got to do to get us to the next level or to win the game, Pat’s gonna do it. Whether it’s putting his body on the line or giving it to somebody else for them to do it — that’s why he’s the ultimate competitor,” Kelce said in the locker room after the victory.

The Chiefs’ quest of becoming the first-ever team in the NFL to three-peat now only has one more obstacle. They’ll have to overcome the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans to etch their names in the history books.
